  Chapter 56

"There you are." I said to Quinn as he walked into the kitchen. "How long have you been up?" Shrugging "A couple hours. I went for a run, had a good workout and thought I would make you something to eat for a change. Have a seat, it's almost ready."

Setting plates down, I said. "So after we get home tonight, we are going to start your training. I want him dealt with as soon as possible." I said turning to look at him.

"You are going to train me? Like a dog?" Smiling; I focused on my food, not meeting his eyes.

"No. Not like a dog, but like a man that will be facing a creature that is just as old as I am. I fought with him when we were younger, he was strong then, but now who knows what he is capable of. I will not lose you to him."

"Shayla can I ask you something?" I nodded. "Shoot." "I've been wondering. I haven't read about anything like that. How does it work for you to have offspring?" Setting down my fork. "I don't really know actually. When one of our women became pregnant, they would vanish; then come back with a baby. No one ever told me what would happen to them. So I don't know if the baby was in an egg, and in dragon form, or if it was like a normal pregnancy." "Oh. I thought it was something that everyone would know about." Shrugging. "I never thought I would live long enough to find out." "I'm sorry I asked. I just wanted to find out something else about you is all." "Thank you. I like children don't get me wrong, and if a time comes, I think I will have children, if I can." He nodded.

"Let's drop this subject for now. I'm sorry. Eat up." I nodded, not saying anything else on the subject.

Why would he want to know? Does he want children, is that why he was asking me all that stuff?

Shrugging it off for now, I continued eating.

After I finished, I got cleaned up.

"We need to get going, Lisa I'm sure is at the shop by now, and doing god knows what." He nodded, as he walked past me, he pulled me into his arms and kissed me; no more of a peck before he went to get ready. "I'm sorry again for bringing all that up. I love you." I smiled. "I love you too."

But still it left my face turning red, from the heat.

Within ten we're ready and have left on our way to the shop. Walking through the door sure enough Lisa is in the back, music blaring to the point she didn't hear us come into the room with her.

"Well you look like you were having a good time in here." I said looking around.

"Yeah I couldn't sleep again. So I came in early, to keep busy."

Quinn gave me a look, motioning me over to the fridges. "We have to do something about her. She can't keep going on very little sleep like this. It's not good for her. It will catch up to her, and not in a good way." I nodded.

"I agree. But she won't listen to me, have you ever seen her actually listen to me?" He said looking over at her. "No your right. Well I could give it a try, but I doubt it will work either." We stared at her for a moment.

"If you two are quite done staring at me like that, we have work to do." She said not bothering to look at us. Quinn gave me a smile, and went over to talk to her.

"Merry Christmas everyone!" Quinn's Uncle Mike said as he walked into the shop. I want to run out of the room, but it's too late, he's already seen me, so I have to stand my ground, and get through it.

"Merry Christmas Uncle." Quinn gave him a hug, then came back behind the counter, to stand next to me. Taking my hand.

"We are just heading out. We wanted to come and say good bye, and wish you a Merry Christmas before we left."

Mike handed us each a small box, and placed his order. Lisa and I filled it while he and Quinn talked.

"How long will you be away for?" "Over Christmas. We should be back by New Year's though." After we filled his order, Mike handed Quinn an envelope. Taking his order from Lisa, he handed her a small box, he again wished us a Merry Christmas and left, heading out of town.

"Well that was interesting." He said. "How so?" "Just how he seemed to be, is all."

People came in ordering there Christmas goodies, and going on their way. Some even gave a Christmas card here and there as well. Time went, and before we knew it, it was after six. The three of us cleaned up and locked up; saying good bye and went on our way.

"We need to stop at the market." Quinn said opening the car door for me. I nodded; as he got in and drove for the store. As we're driving it started to lightly snow, but it didn't last long, and before you know it, the suns out again.

"We have most of the stuff for Christmas dinner, but we do need a few things. So you get something for tonight and I will get what we need." He said as we walked into the market. I nodded, taking a separate kart and wandered off, on my own. There are a few things I need, that I don't overly want to Quinn to see, I just hope that he doesn't pay attention once at the cash.

After a few moments, Quinn and I met up at the cash, paid and are on our way back to the house.

"I have something I would like to ask you." Quinn said as we loaded the last of the groceries into the house. "Yes?" Looking at him, he seems a little nervous; what is he about to ask me? Whatever it is, he's scared to ask me.

"Would it bother you if we went to church on Christmas Eve?" Looking at him, why would feel that he has to ask that? Shaking my head.

"Not at all. Why would you think it would bother me?"

Shrugging. "I don't know. I didn't know if you would be comfortable going or not. So I thought I would ask, just in case." Shaking my head, I set my stuff down on the counter and put my arms around his neck, looking him right in the eye. "Not at all. I would love to go. I mean I haven't been to church in a while, but of course we can go. It's our first Christmas together." Smiling. "Good it's settled then."

Smiling I gave him a peck on the lips, and let go of him, and I started putting the food and things away, humming a tune at times as I went. Quinn pulled me into his arms again, smiling down at me. "I really do love you." I nodded, smiling.

"I know, and I love you."
