sorry for the late update. thanks for reading.

It's mid-afternoon walking into the diner; there's only a couple older couples in there, having an early dinner.

I recognize a couple of them from my first day here, which was only a couple days ago. Tina is at the counter, as soon as she saw me, she waved me over; Mike the Mayor also saw me, giving me a toothy grin.

"Shayla are you alright?" she asked as I sat at the counter. "Yeah I'm okay. It's been kind of a weird day." "Well I have something that will cheer you up." She went to the window, talked to the cook, and grabbed the Coffey pot.

She poured me a cup and went to everyone else refilling there cups. "Shayla I really need to talk to you."

Cormac is suddenly right beside me, at the counter. I hadn't even heard him; or sensed him come in. Usually my senses are sharper than that. "Cormac what are you doing here?" I whispered into my cup. "I told you have to talk to you. This is the only way I can get through to you to do it." "I have nothing to say to you. I told you; that I don't want to see or talk to you, now get away from me before I make a scene."

Turning to him, I flashed my eyes, slitting them like a dragon. "Get away from me." My fire is starting to rise; and I'm trying to hardest to push it back down; I am trying and failing. "If you really care about me at all, then get out of here; before I start to get really angry."

"Fine I'm going, but you haven't seen the last of me."

"Cormac I suggest you leave her alone."

Tina is in front of us, behind the counter; Coffey pot still in hand.

"I'm going."

He got up and left; slamming the door behind him. I had to get away, I ran for the ladies room, locking the door behind me.

You have to calm down. He didn't do anything to you; don't let her out. You're alright, I will set you free soon my love. You just have to be patient.

I keep saying to my reflection, until my nerves calmed down and the changed stopped.

Tina knocked on the door; her perfume coming from under the door. "Shayla are you okay? Can I come in?" Taking a deep breath; I said. "Yeah I'm fine. I'll be out in a second."

Splashing some cold water on my face, my eyes went back to normal, and I opened the door.

"Cormac had no right to do that to you. He's an ass; come on your food is ready."

She looped her arm through mine and we went back out there. Everyone but Mike is the only one left, and of course Quinn is now with him. Tina sat me at the counter, and went back and grabbed my plate. "Tina I don't think I can eat anything right now."

She set it in front of me; it's a cheese burger, and large poutine. "This is the best cure all food. Anytime anyone is upset we give them a plate of this, and by the time there done they feel better."

"Can I take it to go? I think I need to go home and lie down."

"Yeah of course." She put it in a, to go box. "Cormac really got to you didn't he?" I nodded. "Yeah, we kind of know each other and right now he's really being pushy. And I lost it; and I can't lose it like that."

"Don't let him get to you like that, he's nothing. You have a fresh start; and you will make the best of it." She handed me the box. "Now take this home; and get some rest." Nodding. "Thank you Tina. I really do appreciate it. See you later." She gave me a smile; and nod. As I past them; Mike and Quinn gave me a smile, it sent chills down my spine making me want to hurl.
