I watched from my windowsill as Akira walked into the forest... the open window let wind blow through my hair.
Every few weeks, Akira left for the night. He'd often return in the morning, seeming tired and sad. I'd ask him why he looked so upset, but he just patted my head and told me not to worry about it.
Three years of this went by... until one day... those three years were torn apart!
Akira sat at the table, head sunk into his hands.
"Hey, Akira. Where's Echo-chan?" I asked curiously while walking to the bookshelf to pull out a book.
"Training in Angel's Peek, as always, it seems..." Akira replied with his usual docile tone.
"Oh... Ah! Is she with her dragon again??! Oh, can I go see her? I wanna go say hello to Sola!" I bounced with excitement.
"I'm sure she'd be happy to see you. I'll come with you. I've been meaning to talk to her about something anyway," Akira suggested.
"Great idea! Come on, hurry! Let's go!" I called with excitement as my face lit up with joy.
I grabbed Akira's hand and an empty basket.
We strolled through the forest. Well, Akira strolled; I bounced, skipped, and stumbled.
"So much energy..." Akira muttered under his breath with a light smile.
"Luna, don't run so fast, I'll fall behind..." Akira mentioned as I stopped, turning to him.
"There's no need to rush... we should make the most of every second we have, until the very end," he told me.
"I always make the most of every second!" I smiled, waiting for Akira to catch up.
We linked hands as he passed.
"You looked sad again today, Akira. Did something happen?" I wondered.
"..." Akira looked towards the ground as we walked.
"You could say that..." he admitted.
"Uh..." I gasped to see him actually admitting to being distressed.
