Echo, Luna, Galaxy, Infinity, and Aki walked down the corridor, their footsteps echoing off the stone walls. Meanwhile, Yurio had decided to stay and guard Leo for a while longer.
"So... if it's possible to create a form of magic to pose as a real person... what if..." Luna began, her voice filled with a mix of excitement and hesitation.
"What if we made another Yukine and swapped him with the real one so he can come back to us!" she suggested, eyes hopeful as she glanced between the others.
Echo turned to Luna, her expression hardening.
"We can't just replace Yukine with a clone, Luna!" Echo dismissed, her sharp tone slicing through the hopeful mood.
"Why not??" Luna asked, her lips forming a small pout.
"Because 1. we don't know how 2. we can't even get to the underworld, and 3. because people aren't that stupid!!" Echo shot back, waving her hands for emphasis.
Luna frowned, her shoulders slumping as she muttered, "Some people might be....."
"The angels aren't," Echo continued, crossing her arms as they reached the base of the stairs.
"Yukine emits a unique aura like every other magical creature. We can't replicate that. People would notice that difference, and Akira would get in even more trouble," Echo lectured her as they made their way downstairs.
"Mmm..." Luna's steps slowed, her head hanging in defeat as they entered the first-floor hallway.
Infinity, who had been silent for most of the walk, suddenly spoke, his voice cold and detached.
"Hm. If this 'Yukine' is gone, why don't you simply find another to project your feelings onto? Or have you already mated with him?" he muttered, suddenly with a lack of clingy Galaxy following him.
"MATED?!!" Luna squealed in shock, face turning bright red.
"Yeah, that's called a rebound," Echo corrected with a roll of her eyes.
"Wait, where's Galaxy? Weren't she hugging you a second ago?" Aki asked, noticing a missing Galaxy.
They all turned, eyes falling on Galaxy swaying dramatically, pinned to the hallway wall by one of Infinity's swords, the blade holding her clothes in place. Her skin had turned an odd shade of pale as she let out an exaggerated sigh of defeat, her head drooping.
"Oh...." Luna mumbled, her expression a mix of concern and confusion.
"CAN YOU PLEASE WIPE THE BLOOD OFF YOUR FACE?!! IT'S GETTING REALLY UNNERVING!!" Echo finally addressed, dramatically raising her hand towards Galaxy.
Luna leaned closer to Echo, her voice dropping to a worried whisper.
"Echo, I think she's dying...." she mumbled with concern.
