After walking through the forest, Yukine, Yurio, and Luna found themselves standing outside a tall building in the village of Oakville. The hospital loomed before them, its imposing presence reflecting the seriousness of their mission.
"So is this the place where we'll find her...?" Luna nervously asked, her voice barely a whisper.
Yurio nodded solemnly.
"It's the only hospital in the village. She has to be here..." he confirmed.
"Well, no time like the present," Yukine sighed, walking ahead casually while Yurio and Luna gave each other a hesitating look.
They entered the hospital, stepping into a realm of sterile white walls and hushed corridors. It was a fairly large space with rows of blue seats, windows into different rooms, and posters advertising health tips.
A few people were wandering around, some seated reading pamphlets and some doctors rushing about with various equipment.
Yukine, Yurio, and Luna watched, stood back awkwardly as a doctor approached the girl at the reception, who was typing away on her computer.
"Could you book in Mrs Chalsey for a checkup on Monday? Her pacemaker's been causing her some pain, bless her," the doctor explained, leaning over the reception desk.
"Yes, of course. Is that Megan Chalsey?" the girl asked.
"That's the one. Thanks, Brooke," the doctor confirmed before turning back to the rows of chairs.
"Mr Sitmore?" she called, looking down at her clipboard.
A young man got up from his seat with a small wave of his hand.
"Right this way, Sir," the doctor lead the man into the corridor.
After a small silence of the receptionist not noticing them stood an award distance from the desk, Yurio and Luna exchanged a look of "Sooo... are you going to talk to her???". Meanwhile, Yukine stepped towards the desk without hesitation.
"Excuse me. We are here for information. Tell us where we can find the girl who was attacked in the woods the other day. We must interrogate her and gather information to carry out our mission," Yukine menacingly to the receptionist.
The girl looked up from her desk and returned a confused look to Yukine's introduction.
"Yukine!" Luna complained, hurrying over in panic. Yurio awkwardly followed, keeping to himself.
"What?" Yukine asked cluelessly, turning to Luna.
"*sigh* We heard from your local librarian that a girl was attacked the other day. We were just hoping to talk to her about what happened," Luna put more gently as Yukine continued to gaze at her in confusion.
"Oh my! You're talking about young Chiyo? You aren't, by chance, related to her, are you? No one has come to see her yet since she was brought in. Oh, she'll be so happy someone's come to visit her!" the girl's eyes lit up as she perked from her chair.
"Erm... no. Actually... we're magic users from just south of the village. We want to help protect your village from vampires! So would it be possible to talk with her?" Luna asked pleadingly.
"That's basically what I just said..." Yukine grunted with narrow eyes.
The lady glanced at Yukine and then back at Luna, her enthusiasm dampened as she sat back down.
"Oh, I see... Of course. Well, that's very kind of you to offer. But I very much doubt that she'll be able to help you. She can't remember anything about the incident..." the woman told them, tone a lot more relaxed than her first excitement.
