A few minutes later, I managed to use a cloud to see if the monster had left the town by attaching my phone to it. Unfortunately, it remained roaming freely, which meant we were stuck in here until the police caught the monster. If we left, the creature might have traced back Tristan's scent and killed us. The news was already picking up on it as nanotechnology from a lab. Apparently, it escaped because of its design to be intelligent and withstand captivity. Meanwhile, I was squished towards the wall with Tristan trying his best to keep a distance between us, even though the closet was small.
"U-Um.." I peered up at Tristan with a small gaze. "Y-Your hand is too close to.. my leg.."
"S-Sorry."
His hand pulled away from me, and instead, he rested his arm above my head. It was really awkward since just a few hours ago, we couldn't stand each other's presences. I guess we bonded a little, but now we were just two awkward people stuck in a closet and too scared (maybe even embarrassed) to do anything productive. My hands were beside my thighs, trying to push into the wall.
Behind this wall is a different room that doesn't have a door from the outside. I remember my sister and I always hid inside when our parents allowed us to.
If I can find the button—
"Tristan..!" I whispered quietly, trying to catch his attention. His eyes snapped towards me. "I-I have an idea. But I need to turn around.."
Tristan put his hands on my waist and moved a bit back, pushing against the door. Blushing heavily, he spun me around until I faced the blank wall. Now that I was facing away from him, I mentally sighed in relief. I don't want him to see me being embarrassed by someone like him. I looked around, trying to find a button. Where is it..? My hand clicked onto something, and the wall pushed open. There, a room was in front of us. I clumsily stumbled into the room and kept a fine distance between Tristan and me.
There was astronaut food laid out on the floor (kept for expiration situations) and fluffy duvets on the table. A small window provided a light source to the left of the room. I grabbed one of the duvets and sat down on the floor, wrapping it around me to keep myself warm. Tristan followed my actions, and we just sat next to each other, awkwardly waiting for the monster to disappear. The silence continued to bite into my flesh, and it made me uncomfortable.
"I-It's really cold.. huh?" I stuttered out quietly, peering out the small window.
The snow fell gently, and I could almost feel it on my skin. Just one day without the snow. That's all I ask for. Tristan glanced over at me, seeing me shiver. I couldn't really control most warm weather, since my specialty was precipitation, which sucked. I knew I should've practiced using warm weather when I was younger. Tristan shuffled over and wrapped his blanket around me, pulling me closer towards him. A blush was brought onto my face as the blanket provided another layer of warmth.
"Is that better?" Tristan asked in a small voice.
I nodded, ignoring my own blush. "Thank you." I peered around the room, later leaning towards him, my head resting on his chest. "I guess we're stuck in here until the monster gets captured again, huh?"
"Yeah.."
A few hours had passed, and while I was on my phone, I heard the police were chasing after the monster. Good. That thing better be caught by tomorrow. I put my phone away and looked up at Tristan, seeing him sleeping with his head rested on mine. I'm surprised that he can sleep in this cold weather. Even with the weather attribute, I can barely stand it. Quickly, I managed to rearrange the blankets so that we were both equally warm without waking him up.
Should I sleep..?
My hands glowed a light blue. A cloud appeared behind Tristan's head, just for comfort purposes. I felt the small blush on my face and looked down at the floor, my head against him. Why am I so flustered all of a sudden..? I sighed heavily and felt Tristan's arms wrap around my waist, pulling me closer towards him. I closed my eyes, folding my arms towards my torso, and fell asleep.
~~~
Ugh.. what time is it?
Opening my eyes tiredly, I felt almost dead, my head pounding. I looked around the room, only to notice something was off. I was laying on the floor with one of the duvets beneath me as a mattress and the other duvet on top of me. The cloud was beneath my head, acting as a pillow. Tristan left already? A smell drifted through the air, and I rose up. No way... I smell food. I stood onto my feet and wrapped one of the blankets around me, walking out while closing the wall of the closet. I walked downstairs and into the kitchen.
Tristan was at the dining table, eating from a plate of food. Another plate was across from him, untouched and filled with the same content. He looked up and saw me staring at him incredulously.
"You hungry?" He asked casually, pointing at the plate in front of him.
I nodded slightly and walked into the dining room, sitting down on the chair. I was about to grab the fork until I noticed my hands, and my eyes widened. They were a sickly pale color, with a blue light flickering and fading from them. The cloud! I had used too much of my strength to keep that cloud here the whole night, because I had made it, and it wasn't from the sky.
Well, I guess I'm not eating then.
Before I could hide my hands, Tristan was able to take a glance at them. He stood up from his chair and walked into the kitchen, looking for something in the cabinets. I was confused as he strolled back and kneeled in front of my chair. In his hands were bandages and an ointment. He turned my chair so that I was facing him and carefully held one of my arms, putting the ointment on it. Gently, he began rubbing it into my skin. After applying it, he began wrapping the bandages around my arms.
"You shouldn't force your arms to do much today," Tristan said, peering up at me as he finished up wrapping the bandages around my left arm.
"Okay.." I replied quietly.
When he was done, he put the ointment and roll of bandages back into the cabinet and washed his hands. He's quite organized, even in my own house. He grabbed his empty plate and put it in the sink. After all that, he sat down on a chair next to me.
"You hungry?" He asked, pointing at my plate just as before.
I nodded. He picked up my fork and took a piece of the scrambled eggs, putting the fork in front of me. I blinked at first, hesitant to do anything. Reluctantly, I ate it off the fork, and he continued feeding me until I was finished.
He's also quite helpful.
He walked back into the kitchen and said, "You should get ready for school. I'll stop time in this area for a while, since we wasted a lot of time already. I'm leaving to change after I'm done washing the dishes."
"Okay.."
He peered at me and smiled, "I could take you to school.. since, you know, you can't use your attribute." His eyes flickered to my hands. He didn't seem to notice the blush on my face at his suggestion.
"U-Um.., y-yeah, sure.." I mumbled, my cheeks red.
Great.
What kind of situation did I get myself into?
