Tristan Tanner

Dammit. If I didn't use all of my flight attribute, I'd be with Cheryl right now. I cursed at myself as I trudged through halls. Nothing could be heard for miles off, but the slight whistling of wind picked up in my ears. I let out a soft breath and rounded a corner.

This is horrible.

What if Cheryl met a group of men?

Then what?

I shook my head. No, no. She's capable of defeating them. Hell, she could probably throw a stick at them, and they'd die. A smile cracked onto my face at the thought. More maze-like halls took over, and I began getting ticked off. I stopped all of a sudden with my eyes wide in realization.

Wait.

If Cheryl found Leo..

..CRAP.

I DIDN'T TELL HER ABOUT THE DECEIVER ATTRIBUTE.

My pace began picking up as I rushed through the halls. I NEED TO GET THERE BEFORE CHERYL DOES DAMMIT.

I NEED TO FIND HER.

~~~
Cheryl Faun
"Tristan?" I called out loudly.
My boots clacked onto the floor, creating eerie echoes. I suppose I could say I found the heart of the building. There weren't any drafts around, and it was pretty dark, except for torches lighting the way a couple of yards away from each other. I shivered, a slight breeze of cool weather blowing on my legs. My jeans had been ripped from the fight with the Elite Squad, so I most likely looked like a drunken female that had most likely lost her friend at a party and picked a fight with someone.
I hugged myself and shivered, stopping for a while. "Boy is it cold here.." I murmured to myself. I probably got used to the heat in Arizona.
I continued walking, each step getting closer and closer to what seemed to be a door. There wasn't any intersection. It lead straight to a door, and only that door. My hand grabbed the handle, and I swung it open. There was a click as fresh air hit me, though the room was dark and dimly lit. I grabbed a torch nearby and walked in, putting the source of light in front of me. I didn't say anything because of how creepy it was, because what else could I do?
I managed to say out loud as quietly as possible, "Tristan..?"
The echo had shocked me. The room must've been bigger than I thought. I sensed something move to my left and snapped around. Don't be cliché and say hello out loud Cheryl. That's stupid and idiotic. I rolled my eyes. But then again, they already know I'm in here, right?
"Cheryl! Is that you?" A familiar voice asked.
Tristan? My eyes widened. "Y-Yeah!"
"Hey! I found you just in time!" His voice continued. I couldn't see him anywhere. "Where are you?"
"I-I don't know! It's too dark in here to see!"
His voice. It sounds like him, but.. something is off. The protectiveness in his voice seems to be gone. The possessiveness is gone as well. And for some reason, it makes me feel.. scared..? My thoughts were interrupted by Tristan's voice.
"I think I see you!" I looked around and saw a figure to my right. "The one with the torch right?"
My eyes widened with excitement. "Yes! Yeah, that's me!"
I dropped the torch once I saw his eyes sparkling back at me. It's him. I began running towards him, but when he didn't react, I felt a small bang in my heart. That's not Tristan! Tristan would've told me to stay where I was. He would've told me to be careful. He would've answered when I first called his name. I ignored the thoughts. I was being paranoid! I jumped on top of Tristan and wrapped my arms around him. He did the same, and I sighed. A moment of silence erupted, wrapping around us.
"Thank god you're alright.." I told him.
"Yeah," he responded. "It's a shame you won't be."
My eyes widened when I felt something being chucked through my stomach. What? I clutched the wound when the weapon slid out, the blood dripping down my hand. I dropped to my knees as blood trailed down the corners of my mouth, dripping down my chin. How did it already mess up my body functions? The figure took a step back to look at his handiwork.
"Tristan..?" I looked up and saw his green eyes staring at me blankly.
"Stupid, naive Cheryl," he said. The voice wasn't him anymore. A black light winded around him and flashed. I felt my eyes pricking with tears, widening, when it was Leo who had emerged the light. "Love, you really are a big help to the new world. I almost feel sorry for not letting you live in it."
Still clutching my stomach, the blood loss took a toll on me. I collapsed suddenly, falling to my right. The blade in Leo's hand glistened with my blood, and I felt a tear rolling down my face.
"The Blood Assassin..?"
But how?
"Ah, you noticed?" Leo asked. "I stole it the time we kissed." He gave me a smirk, a ghost of insanity gleaming in his eyes. "You remember that, don't you?" He crouched down beside me, letting the blade brush against my cheek. I felt the blood wipe across my face like paint, disgust filling me while mixing in with the dread. "Doesn't death feel nice? Being able to see your family again?"
I wanted to protest.
I wanted to kick him.
The Blood Assassin wouldn't allow that. Once with the blood of its victim, all the living soul of the prey is sucked out, leaving them helpless and exposed.
I still want to live!
I don't want to see my family just yet!
I still want to see the world..!
I want to see the world... with Tristan.
My thoughts weren't enough to be turned into actions. Tears blurred my vision of Leo, and he watched joyfully at my suffering. "You still want to stay with Tristan, don't you, love?" I didn't reply as Leo looked at me innocently with his demonic soul. "Very sweet. I'm sorry he's not the last person you'll see though."
"Shut.. up..."
Leo smiled at my pitiful retort. I wasn't surprised when I saw the pure happiness and sick enjoyment of the monster standing before me. But then again, what was the difference between him... and me?
"Good night, Princess of the Blood Assassin."
He raised the Blood Assassin above his head, and it came plummeting down towards me. My eyes shut tightly.
I'm sorry, Tristan.
Please don't be mad at yourself for this. I'll see you on the staircase to heaven or in the depths of hell.
It doesn't matter.
"Sleep tight."
I love you too.
"Don't let the demons bite," were the last words I heard before I was immersed in pitch black.
