"Thanks.."
After the school day ended, Tristan helped me home, setting me down on my feet. His presence.. is weirdly uplifting. The whole way home was silent, with the only exception being the streets below us as others pointed us out in the sky.
I kind of liked it.
"I'll see you later, Cheryl," he said to me, breaking me out of my thoughts. I nodded and was about to close my door, only for Tristan to put his foot between the door and the frame. Opening the door once again, he looked down at me, a hesitant look in his eyes. "Hold on."
I glanced up at him with a confused gaze. "What?" I asked.
He looked down at our shows, swallowing hard. Clumsily pulling something out of his pocket, he said, "Put your hand out. Please."
I put my hand in front of him, and he carefully placed something in my palm. It was cold, almost like ice. The heat of his hand contrasted with it. I was puzzled as to what he was giving me, and a pink blanket covered my cheeks. Looking up at him, he closed my hand with his, and his shoes began to glow.
"Now, it really is goodbye," he said casually, a crooked smile on his face. My eyes widened at it, and a warm creeping shiver traced my spine as my blush thickened. His hand let go of mine, and I felt the warmth disappearing from my fingertips. "If you don't feel any better tomorrow, just call me, and I'll be right over."
"O-Okay.." I said quietly, still dazed by his smile. Clearing my throat, I spared him a small wave. "Bye."
Quickly, he flew away.
I closed the door and pulled off my shoes, placing them on the floor beside the wooden door. His smile is funny. It gives me a funny feeling. I walked up towards my room after snatching a granola bar from the kitchen and sat down on my bed. My hand was still clutching the thing Tristan gave me, and hesitantly, I set it down on my desk next to the bed. It was a silver-chained necklace with a snow owl charm, a few snowflake charms hanging beside it.
It's so.. elegant.
Definitely not me or my style.
The snow owl had a few sparkling gems acting as feathers, wedged into the owl's stomach. It was indeed pretty, but all I could wonder was how much did it cost. Those look like real diamonds, like Mom's wedding ring. After pulling my hair out of the braid, I moved the strands to the side and pulled on the necklace. After clasping the two ends together, I laid the charm in the palm of my hand, looking down at it. Wow... It's certainly captivating. I picked up my phone, tapping through the apps to the messages. Hesitantly, I began to type something towards Tristan. I clicked the send button.
Me: thanks. For the necklace I mean, and I guess today as well. And yesterday.
I quickly chucked my phone as far away from me on the bed as possible. It landed on my pillow, and I felt the rush of my blood heating up my face. I'm so awkward when it comes to socializing. That is the most weirdest thing I ever said to anyone. My phone vibrated, and I almost squeaked, swiping it up from the pillow.
Tristan: no problem. :)
Weirdly enough, the emoticon at the end was really cute. I turned off my phone and chucked it on the floor in the corner of my room, making weird squeaky noises with embarrassment rushing through my bloodstream. He probably thinks I'm weird now. Well, wasn't I always weird to him? I sighed and put my hands on my cheeks, slapping them lightly. They left red handprints on my face, and I blushed, slamming my head into my pillow. I'm not supposed to care about what he thinks! Why am I so weird now? Where is my confidence, dammit?!
