Settling down on the loveseat, I clear my throat and smile at the couple in front of me. "As you both know, you two aren't much of major characters, but there are many many questions for you, just to clarify a few things."
Gavin nods.
"Well. First of all, how did you two come to work for Leo and William Kei?" I ask.
Gavin breathes in, as if the memory is deep. "Leo was the one who found me homeless on the streets. He suggested I helped him with the project that would change the world. I uh believed him. I mean, I was homeless and hungry. There would be clean food provided and shelter; that's what he said. So when I joined, I became a guard at the base. I never really cared about my life, so throwing it away was almost nothing to me. The first time I arrived in the laboratory, Layla was actually the one working on everything. Coordinates and chemicals. She was.. breathtaking."
Layla brightens beside him, becoming shy. She hides behind his shoulders. I can hear Cheryl squealing. "That's very nice of you to say," I remark with a wink. I nod towards Layla. "What about you?"
"I was a friend of William Kei, ever since we were just little. Our families were different. He had a dream to become king, to take over the world and recreate what would be left over. It was when we were 17 when he learned of the term 'war'. I don't mean the simplicity of it— I mean the full term of war. The pain, the suffering, everything." Her shoulders falter. "He organized a plan. To take over the world. Me being the last friend that hadn't left him, I joined him blindly. When Gavin suggested running away, I.. never realized how dangerous our jobs were. So I said yes."
"Welp, that also answers the question of what happened when Gavin asked you to run away," I say, throwing the white card away. Layla laughs. "What about Cheryl? I know Gavin knows her, so what do you have to say to her?"
The middle-aged man turns to Cheryl. "Cheryl. You of all people deserve to be a heroine of our world. Every right has been put into your title. Thank you for guiding me at a lost moment."
Cheryl, who is being emotional, wipes away a tear from her eye, smiling. "Yeah. No problem."
"Okay," I say. The couple turns back to me. "Do you two have any plans for the future?"
Layla's eyes sparkle. "Ooh! Yes! Gavin and I were planning on having children soon. Starting a family. Our wages from the jobs we have are decent enough, and if Gavin or I am able to get a raise, then it'll be enough to support two more beings."
"Oooh~!" I squeal. "Any names in mind?"
Gavin laughs. "Only one for a female. Farye."
I smile and clap my hands a little. "Well! I think that wraps up all I have for you two! Thank you for doing this interview. Anything for the readers out there?"
As Gavin helps Layla stand up, he winks at the camera. "Don't be afraid to fall for someone. When you fall, you get hurt. But sometimes, those injuries are healed by that one smile from that special someone."
Layla smiles, agreeing with her lover. Gavin's eyes linger on it.
"Thank you again!" I yell loudly, my own lips pulling into a smile.
