"Why is he still not saying anything?"

"U-Uhm, we aren't sure," a young woman told Leo. She held the clipboard to her chest and pushed her glasses up her nose. "He isn't responding to anything. The last thing he spoke of was the girl killing us."

Leo rolled his eyes. "Cheryl should be here by now. Pull back our reinforcements."

"Sir! You do understand that pulling back guards will mean she has an advantage over us, right?"

"Don't talk back, you piece of crap. Do as I say." I felt a stick poke my arm. I wanted to pull on it so that Leo would bang against the bars and luckily crack his neck, but I was hit by a poison dart. Thanks to Mom, I had a high tolerance to poison, so I was only just paralyzed. "In the meantime, bruise him up a bit."

Leo, when I get my hands on you, you fat fucker..!

Through the thick fog of my anger, I had flown all the way to Arizona. It was tiring, but I didn't care in the slightest. Tristan was missing, and of course, I knew it was Leo. Who else could it have been? I guess the white flag meant nothing now. I wish I could've known sooner; who knows what they were doing to him!

I could feel my heart beating as I jumped off of a cloud, letting sand rise as I landed roughly on the ground. The base stood out like a sore thumb. It was basically a huge cube-shaped building in the middle of nowhere. Walking up to the wall, I breathed in deeply, trying my best to calm down. It didn't work. No one will live when I see them. My hand twitched slightly. I put my hand on the stone wall, and, breathing in lightly, it blasted into pieces like a chain of dominoes being knocked over. The crumbling bits had fallen to my sides, and I trudged over the mess. A man who had crawled out from underneath the rubble glared at me murderously.

"Who are you?!" He demanded angrily. "You don't look familiar!"

I didn't reply and stayed silent. He doesn't know me? Maybe he's just a security guard. A pawn. His hands started to glow ominously, and a spear appeared in his grasp. Summoning? I felt a smile on my face and laughed.

"Come and get me."

He stood up and charged at me. That's the most basic thing to do. I grabbed his spear, his eyes widening, and I yanked it out of his grasp. It disappeared in a flash, and I reacted quickly. My fist was sent into his stomach, and he was pushed back. I almost heard the cracking of all his ribs. He spat out blood, coughing vigorously as he crashed into the remains of the wall. How unsightly pathetic. A dim glow followed my sight, but I shook my head.

I sighed and pulled on my gloves, wiping off the little crumbs of concrete from my forehead. I'm coming, Tristan. My heart dropped, and I smiled, walking through the rubble.

This time, I'll be the one to protect you.

Weird.

No one is here..?

My hands balled into fists, and I looked through every creepy corridor. I was thinking that enforcements would be added after the wall was destroyed. Nothing made sense right now. I had expected Leo to be smart, but I guess he really was a dumbass. My fingers traced the wall as I strolled down the hall, walking further into the building. It was too quiet for such a big experimental lab.

I skipped down even further and stopped when I heard voices. Shadows appeared at the hallway to the left. Quickly, I tried to melt into the wall as a few guards passed by me, walking straight ahead. They carried on with their conversation, and I let out a quiet sigh of relief. Man, these soldiers are really bad at their jobs! I was about to run up further down the hallway, but instead, I stepped on a candy wrapper that one of the guards had left. The guards turned back around as my eyes widened.

One of them pointed at me. "HEY! WHAT'RE YOU DOING?" Immediately, my legs pushed me into the hallway, and I was leading a chase. "GET BACK HERE, LITTLE GIRL!"

My breathing remained evenly calm, but my heart was just the polar opposite. I felt it beating as fast as I was running. Dammit! Where's an exit when you need one?! I leaned closer to the ground and put my hand on the floor, bracing myself as I made a sharp right turn. I felt something scratch my leg and winced. Stupid architects can't even build right either. I got straight back up and continued running. I felt my heart racing with joy when they lost a few seconds behind me.

I began looking at the doors I passed by, trying to find one that said "prisoner" or something- anything! I felt a bullet nearly miss my side and began running even faster. My foot missed a step, and I went tumbling to the floor. I glanced back and saw one of the men a few 20 or so yards away. My eyes widened as I grabbed the handle of the door beside me and tried to push myself back up onto my feet. The other man had a gun in his hand and pulled the trigger.

I felt a bullet pierce into the back of my thigh and clenched my jaw, almost biting my tongue. Run, just run. Don't think. Run. I opened the door I was hanging onto and quickly ran as fast as a bleeding leg could. I hid behind a big metal thing which seemed to be a boiler. Crap! Was I running in circles? I need to find stairs to go up. The pain from the bullet began to seep beneath my skin, and I hissed slightly. I pulled off the bandana wrapped around my wrist and tied it around my thigh, covering the wound.

The bullet's gonna have to wait.

"Where'd she go?!" One of the men yelled.

The other's shadow appeared, and I held in my breath tightly. "She's not here. Maybe she used an illusion or something."

"We need to inform the captain."

My eyes widened in realization, but I shook my head. Just because Leo is in one place doesn't mean Tristan is there too. My head tilted back onto the boiler, and I closed my eyes. I put a hand to my heart and grabbed the owl charm from my necklace, clutching onto it tightly as I pushed back tears. My breathing had slowed down, but I felt restless.

Please be safe, Tristan.

That's all I ask for.
