Tristan Tanner

"..infiltrated the base. She's currently hiding somewhere, and the guards are looking for her."

As I tried to wake up from my nap, I heard scientists talking to Leo. Cheryl's.. here? I put my hands on the floor of the cage and pushed myself up. Okay, the poison finally wore off. I sat up correctly and leaned against the bars, trying to listen to what they were saying through the barrier around the cage.

"Any recent status on Cheryl?" Leo asked as he viewed through files on the Atlas Bomb. "William Kei needs to make sure she isn't at full power when she attacks us."

"Well, a guard thought she was took a bullet to the back of her left thigh and ran into the boiler room. But they couldn't find her in there and said she must have used an illusion-based attribute to escape." The scientist who spoke looked at a report from two guards. "So, nothing much had really happened. She destroyed an entire wall on the first floor, so the vibrations of the concrete must've been detected by any passerby near the road about 15 miles away."

"Alright then. Increase defenses and make sure they don't screw up this time. She's dangerous when she's at full power."

I almost wanted to laugh, but my inside organs burned with a fiery pain. A small smile was all I could muster onto my face. How idiotic. Cheryl doesn't have illusion attributes. They think she's at full power. I thought of the boiler room. I bet she either hid in the actual boiler or behind it. A bullet to the thigh shouldn't have much effect on her powers, but moving will be a problem. I let out a small huff and looked at the ceiling of the cage.

"Now I need to get out of this dump." I whispered to myself.

Cheryl Faun

"..out of this dump."

I immediately perked up and put my hand on the boiler, pushing myself up. Tristan? I swore I had heard his voice, but no one was in this room. I peeked out from the boiler, but the door was shut closed. No one is here.. I sighed and sat on my jacket.

"Dammit.." I muttered.

I really miss Tristan already.

My face flushed red as those words floated in my mind. I wanted to be able to see him if we failed. Even just a glance would be enough. I promise I'll protect you. It won't be the other way around. I got up and looked down at my thigh. This probably isn't the best bandage but it'll have to do for now. I held onto the wall and picked my by jacket, tying it around my waist.

Let's see...

My attributes, in total, are four.

Weather, which branches off to climate change and temperature. Music, which branches off into sound, invisible waves, and a lot more. Marionette, which has a slight telepathy skill. Summoning, from a distance of at least 15 yards. Summoning uses weapons instead of every day objects or people.

If I could summon objects, I would be able to summon some actual clothing that blends into the laboratory. I sighed and put a hand to my forehead. Getting into where Tristan is... would require a certain level of Marionette if I had control over a guard. But the guards are blocking almost every intersection in the hallways, which means if I were to control one of them, the others would come for me. I just need one guard to pass by so I can keep a track of him.

At exactly the same moment, the door to the room opened. "Eating on the job?" Another guard asked from the hallway. I launched myself back behind the boiler, evening my already heightened breathing. "You're being a risky fellow, mate. If Captain Leo catches you, I was never here!"

The guard who had walked into the room laughed. "No worries, man! Just a little food isn't going to get me killed."

For a few minutes, the guard had sat down on a chair in front of the boiler, facing my direction. I didn't have at trying to sneak into his mind. What could he possibly be doing here? He didn't have any food on him at all. Crap. Any time now, and Tristan might be roasted beef by then. The door opened once again, but this time, the voice of a woman was heard.

"Ah! I'm so sorry I'm late!" She exclaimed quietly. Her voice was surprisingly delicate. "You still have time, right?"

The guard's voice changed a little. He almost seemed.. flustered to see her. I peeked out carefully. The girl was pretty young, and a lab coat hung from her shoulders. The guard stood in front of her and smiled shyly.

"Actually, you aren't late. Don't worry." He put his hands in his pockets and blushed awkwardly. "I uh.. I actually called you here because.. um, I wanted to tell you something. Something that's really important."

My eyes widened when he leaned in towards her and held her face. Her first reaction was blushing intensely. I felt my heart pound against my chest as it cracked slightly. Does he.. love her? I was in utter shock and surprise. OH MY GOD, HE DOES!!! This was almost like watching a drama, but in real life!

"Mr. Gavin," the woman said quietly, obviously trying to remind him that he was a co-worker trying to held destroy the world. Her face only gave away that she had the same feelings as him. With the way she reacts, this is probably something that's been happening for a while, but never made official. "I-I don't think you should continue with that idea you're thinking of."

Psychic abilities.

"Why not?" He asked quietly, putting his face in front of hers. She gulped visibly. "Because you obviously enjoy this just as much as I do."

The girl was flattened like a pancake against the wall, her face a bright red strawberry. Oh my god, this is so interesting to watch! The guard leaned forward gently and kissed her. I had to keep in a squeal from escaping my mouth. I put my back against the boiler and blushed. Oh my gOD, THEY ARE MAKING OUT BEHIND LEO'S BACK, AND I AM IN THE SAME DAMN ROOM AS THEM.

What mostly disgusted me was how passionate they were about it. I'll spare you the details, don't worry. So, for an hour or two, I spent that time sitting behind a boiler with my face flushed red as a guard and a scientist were passionately making out in the same room as me.

Well fucking shit.
