No one moved.

No one said a word.

No one even blinked.

It was like a game of chess, except if your piece gets collected, you suffered the consequences. At first, we stopped in our tracks, calculating who we were up against. It seems they're all high tiers, so they most likely only have one attribute. I peered at the titanium bat from earlier, watching as it swung in Alpha's hand. That's not from Summoning. Which means he replaced a missing attribute with a heavy duty weapon. I looked back at all five of them. They must be great at combat combined with weapons.

My hands flashed red, and two swords appeared in my hands. They'll be a challenge. I charged at them, surprising them from the silence, and swiped my sword across Blondie's arm. I landed a few feet behind them as they watched Blondie's arm fall off of his body. A scream escaped his lips, and I smiled. It's a good thing I love challenges. The sound of the lifeless arm falling to the floor sounded like slime slushing. I heard a horrified gasp.

"He can't heal himself, can he?" I asked, turning around slowly. "Raven over there used his Mirror attribute to heal himself from earlier, I assume."

They all looked up at me, their eyes on the bloody sword. "H-How did you find out so quickly?" Raven asked, his eyes wide. They were filled with tears, and I felt sorry for him. My heart pounded in my chest as he glanced at his friend in horror before staring back at me.

"Don't worry," I replied, smoothly avoiding the question. "He won't die. My blade isn't poisoned, and he just loses an arm. He'll live." Raven almost looked relieved until I added in, "Until I kill all five of you together." Alpha turned his head to look at me. I smiled lifelessly and said, "We're on opposite teams. There's no such thing as pity on the battlefield. Only pain."

"Why you LITTLE BI—"

"You do realize to activate the Atlas Bomb, you'd have to stay within radius, right?" I asked. Alpha wasn't paying attention as his anger washed over him. He swung his titanium bat at me, as to which I ducked. I kicked the back of his knee, and he fell to the floor. I stood up straight and pointed my sword at his throat, glaring down at him. My foot rested on his torso, keeping him down. "For that to happen, Leo would most likely choose you men to activate it. It sets off within 30 minutes. And then what happens? You won't have any vehicles to get out. You only have attributes related to combat, not transportation."

"STOP RAMBLING AND START FIGHTING, YOU MAD WOMAN!" Cat Man barged in. I turned my head and pointed out my unoccupied sword, letting it touch his neck lightly. He stopped in his tracks quickly, the tip of my sword barely pushing into his skin.

"And you don't care if you die?" I snapped. "You're not going to rule the world! Leo and William Kei will! You'll only be the deceased pawns they used in order to make that happen." I glared at them angrily, my eyes flashing with colors. "But I won't let them control this world."

I felt my heart beating wildly in my chest as I bared a glance at the sky. All the men were unconscious, either sleeping from the heat and the exhaustion or dead because of Cheryl. I had an awkward grin on my face as I sat down on the big chunk of wall that came down, trying to breathe calmly.

No matter how many people are killed by her hands, I know she'll have a reason.

After a moment, I sighed and stood up, stretching my arms and legs. After Cheryl left, I was struck a few times, but I was okay. I wasn't hit with any bullets or anything life-threatening; I was just hit by some knives. I really hope Cheryl's okay. I clenched my fists and walked through the rubble, towards the huge cube of a building. I should get there before she goes to fight Leo.

I felt like throwing up when I saw the bloodshed. I kept it in and sighed, my swords glowing red. They were glistening with fresh blood, and I shivered. The weapons disappeared, and I peered at the ground. Four bodies. One was left on the battlefield: Alpha. All mercy I had left for them had disappeared. The only thing I had concentrated on was cleaning my blades to get rid of their filthy blood. He stared at the remnants of his teammates, their almost lifeless bodies being consumed by the poison that had been layered on the swords.

"How does it feel to see them on the brink of death?" I asked, my voice echoing through the room. "That is the world if I don't stop you. Slaughter."

The walls were splattered with bright red paint, and Alpha didn't reply, instead, looking at me. The look in his eyes— it was certainly the lust for murder and bloodshed. I wasn't prepared when he somehow appeared behind me, his arm wrapped around my neck. Shit! I tried to rip his arm away from me. I didn't notice he didn't use his attribute yet.

"I thought you wanted to die," he muttered in spite of anger, tears in his eyes. "I thought you were fucking excited to be killed."

His arm tightened around my neck, trying to suffocate me. Someone's done their research, haven't they? As I struggled to speak, I jabbed my elbow into his ribs, which were shattered earlier on. He let go of me and clutched his stomach, trying to breathe properly. I fell to the floor and grabbed the knife that Cat Man had left behind on his way to hell.

"The only reason I wanted to die was because my family was dead," I said, standing up. I ignored the burning in my legs and walked up to his collapsed figure. He tried to stand, and I replied by pushing his head down. "Don't you fucking stand. I'm not done yet." His hand clenched into fists, and his eyes glowed with rage. "Then I found someone special."

"I don't fucking care," Alpha coughed.

"You're gonna wish you fucking did," I responded coldly. "I thought I didn't have a reason to live. That someone became my reason. And that reason is coming to destroy you all."

I clutched the handle of the knife and chucked it through his back. A blood-curdling scream escaped his mouth as I ignored the bloodshed that had splattered on my hands. It was a beautiful scarlet red, only with a faint tint of purple because of my glowing eyes.

"My, what a healthy scream," I mumbled with my head spinning.

I slipped the knife out from his back. Tossing the weapon back onto to the floor, I turned around and left the dead bodies to sleep in peace.

Wake up, Leo.

An assassin came to play the game of Life and Death.

And this round, you're losing.
