After lunch, Tristan and I continued training. It took a while, but I was able to summon quite well. Maybe not at a far range like Julia, but far enough for me to handle. Since I had to start at Rank Zero of telepathy, using Marionette was a challenge. Instead of controlling inanimate objects, Tristan decided it was best if I learned to control living things. At the end of the day, he was right. Training really did help.
I was in the bathroom, washing my face from all the sweat and grime. Everything is just fine. I improved in Summoning and Marionette. I also advanced in Weather. My hands gripped the edge of the sink as I clenched my jaw. My music attribute isn't working though. That's a major downfall. I sighed in frustration and walked out, pulling on a grey hoodie.
Tristan was in the living room, a map of Arizona in front of him on the table. He seemed concentrated at the part where a red circle was marked around the Atlas Bomb's territory. I sat down next to him with my hands on my knees, looking at the map. He didn't notice my presence.
"Hey."
He looked up at me and smiled slightly, just noticing me. "Sorry. I was a little distracted." He stared back at the map, a hollow expression on his face.
"I think I figured that out already," I said quietly. I leaned back on the couch, hugging my knees to my chest. "If you're coming up with a plan, don't overdo it."
"I'm not going to overdo it," he replied. "I'm just thinking."
"Oh my god! You're thinking? Are you sick? Maybe you should take a nap!"
Tristan turned around with his cheeks red. "S-Shut up!"
I laughed and muffled the giggles with the sleeves of my hoodie. A smile of relief washed over me. At least he isn't stressing out so much anymore. He groaned and leaned back, putting his hands on his face. He must be tired. I blinked and smiled slightly. I took this chance to elbow his ribs. He yelped and glared over at me.
"You're overdoing it," I said with a poker face.
Tristan shook his head defiantly. "No I'm not."
"Yes you are."
"No, I'm not!"
"Yes," I argued back, "you are."
He crossed his arms and gave me a straight face. "Nuh-uh."
I smiled and pinched his cheek lightly, making him flinch. "You're so cute when you're in denial." Tristan blushed furiously, and I laughed at the sudden flustered expression. "And you're blushing! That's so precious~!"
"N-No I'm not," he protested weakly with his arms crossed. He looked away in embarrassment, and I snickered quietly.
How utterly adorable.
After a while of silence, Tristan looked up at me. I stared back, wondering why he all of a sudden just looked at me. As always, his eyes sparkled for a second, and he looked back at the map.
"Any chance of reaching the music attribute?" he asked.
"No," I responded. "It's not responding at all, but I can get through to her."
Tristan mumbled something, and the only thing I heard was "87%". I curled up on the couch, closing my eyes. Even if my music attribute had responded, she wouldn't have helped us. Leo and his group of scientists would've found a way to control her.
One possible conclusion would be to cut ties with her. Something that symbolized our bond would have to be cut or destroyed. That would only have two problems. What is that something? And would I control my body, or would she? That might've depended on who had the most control within the body while the bond was severed.
Another conclusion would be to use Marionette on myself, or rather my alter ego. Again, I would need to have the most control over my body in order to use Marionette on myself because my alter ego only controlled the music attribute. Using Marionette would also be risky as well because it would be easy to lose myself within it. Once I'm lost, I'm gone forever.
A different conclusion that was pretty unusual would be if something triggered me to activate the music attribute. It would have to be something pretty extraordinary though, as to seeing how I cared less about anything and everything.
I sighed a little and shook my head. All of this is confusing and hurts too. I heard Tristan chuckle and say, "What are you thinking about?"
"Nothing," I replied, waving it off while putting my hands on my head. "Just wondering some things. That's all."
He took this opportunity to tease me back by saying, "Now I'm not the only one thinking too much."
My cheeks puffed out, and I huffed, crossing my arms. Tristan poked my cheek lightly with a smile lit on his face. I glared at him, and he laughed. The hoodie I was wearing seemed to catch his attention because as soon as he saw it, he gasped dramatically.
"Are you wearing my hoodie?" he demanded.
I put my hand on my heart and exclaimed, "How dare you think so lowly of me! I am not wearing your hoodie!"
Tristan sat on the couch with his legs crossed, facing towards my huddled-up body. "There are only 100 of these in the world, and my dad got me one for my seventh birthday." He grabbed my left wrist and held out my arm, pointing at the sleeve. "That's the rose on each and every one of them."
"Well my father left this one for me before he went off to join the army," I replied. I pulled my arm back and flipped the sleeve of the hoodie inside out. "My mom left his name in here to make sure I wouldn't forget him." I pointed at the signature.
"Wait," Tristan said. I looked up at him, and his eyes sparkled childishly. (I just realized his eyes sparkled a lot.) "Do you know what this means?"
"Uhhh.. that this is my hoodie?"
"Besides that!" He rubbed his hands together and exclaimed, "We can be twinning buddies!" He jumped off the couch and ran down the hall, yelling, "I'm getting my hoodie, hold on!"
I had no time to react, but as soon as he left, I smiled softly. He's such a child. I put my hand on the armrest and waited. A few moments later, Tristan jumped out from the hall in his hoodie, pointing at the sky almost heroic-like. I blinked at the sudden action. A short snort escaped my mouth, and I burst into a fit of laughter. Tristan grinned childishly and jumped onto the couch next to me.
I shook my head lightly, still laughing, and said, "Oh god, you're a fucking idiot."
He wrapped his arms around me and hugged me tightly, only making me laugh even more because it tickled. A grin appeared on his face as he replied, "All for you, Cheryl."
