The poem is one of the projects we passed to our English teacher, but I wasn't able to get the original copy from her (because I lacked time and she didn't hand it over to me, WTH, I'm sorry, I'm fine, truly and sincerely fine). Well, the original theme was about imagining yourself as some poet (like Edgar Allan Poe or Robert Frost) and freely expressing your personal view, but since it's not my liking, I changed it to a more personal theme of being someone you can't actually be, while preserving the title. It turned out to be one of my favorites, but still, I have better poems to come soon. As of now, I'm liking my habit :))))

XXXIII

IF I WERE

Being cool

Goes way beyond my senses,

Sparks like a lightning bolt,

Burns like a wishful snowflake,

Drowns like a wave of salt,

Twitches like a wind-blown flower,

Strangles like a numb nerve,

Topples like an old watchtower,

Aches like a parade of butterflies,

And kills like the shade of forests

Being clean

Goes way beyond my senses,

Soothes like a shot of brandy,

Warms like a kiss of wine,

Smothers like silken cloth,

Sweetens like a lump of sugar,

Flows like a quiet stream,

Touches like a cup of tears,

Aches like a swarm of honeybees,

And kills like the shine of jade

Being tough

Goes way beyond my senses,

Moves like a mountaintop,

Runs like a ray of light,

Stands like a granite statue,

Walks like a cloud of silver,

Shines like the golden sunrise,

Strengthens like an ostrich egg,

Aches like a pride of lions,

And kills like the emerald sea
