LXXXVII

STAR

Running, running

Through the night

You pursue

What kind of bright?

Is it some type

Of golden light,

Or one that brings

A blinding fright?

All alone

Up in the sky

What great sadness

Makes you cry?

Is it thoughts

Of loneliness,

Or the sting

Of emptiness?

But then, you walk

With your own feet

To galaxies

Of infinite

And you search

That kind of bright

The one that brings

A clearer sight

Off you go

Away from home

You run and chase,

Wander and roam

For that one hope

To make you smile

You travel millions

Millions of miles

You ride a comet

Through the ice

And keep away

From deadly eyes

In search of brightness

Fair and clear

All horizons

You won’t fear

But years went by

Without a trace

Without a smile

To fill your face

You hoped for love

In empty space

And wasted time

In senseless place

And finally,

The chance is slim

Your fuel dies

Your light goes dim

It’s hard to not

Give up the game

Of searching for

Something so lame

But what turned out

This very night

Is you pursued

That kind of bright

That type of shining

Golden light

Has been with you

Your guiding sight
