In a jar
Forgotten
Emotions
Resurfaced
Words
Awoken
Gray letters say
‘I miss you’
And I cried
Many hours
Then I tried
Realizing
It wasn’t worth it
At all
Gray letters say
‘I love you’
And I sobbed
Many days
Then I stopped
Realizing
You’ll never come back
To me
Gray letters say
‘I hate you’
And I mourned
Many months
Then I ceased
Realizing
I am a fool
To everything
Gray letters are
An illusion
My hope
That’s too desperate
My heart
That’s too broken
My life
That’s too tired
Gray letters say
‘I need you’
And I believed
Too easily
And after all
The years past
I am still here
Hurting
Gray letters say
‘I want you’
And I held on
Too tightly
And after all
The decades past
I am still here
Bleeding
Gray letters say
‘I lost you’
And I succumbed
Too deeply
And after all
The emptiness past
It became
The truth
Gray letters say
‘I’m numb’
And I thought
It was a joke
But after all
The past rains,
I need to survive
The coming storms
Gray letters,
What key?
What devotion?
What value?
There is none
That truly is,
So what key
Is this?
Gray letters,
What peace?
What surrender?
What worth?
There is no
Definite answer,
So what peace
Does matter?
Gray letters,
What chances?
What paths?
What hope?
There is nothing
That’s ever been,
So what chance
Does this mean?
Gray letters speak
Of silence,
Domination,
Senses,
Elevation,
Transcendence,
Oblation,
Reality,
Disconnection
Gray letters speak
Of friendship,
Affection,
Memories,
Connection,
Gratitude,
Love?
