When the twins were settled in they started talking of what happened to them, what has happened of their father and what he made for pure to use to fight the UDI. Pure, Alisha, Horatio, Jack, Seth and Randal were listening to their story. Pure connected a speaker and microphone so that Seth and Randal can join the conversation. Lucinda wanted to listen in too so they let the sub surface where no one was for the next fifty miles so they can talk freely and not be detected by anyone even the UDI. The jammers were still operating to shield them.
Pure: I have a lot of questions to ask you two but I want to start at the beginning with you two, how did you get like this?
Xiao: It all started back in our early childhood when our mother and father was together and we were playing outside having fun with our friends until the sky got really dark and started to rain but this was no ordinary rain, it was acid rain.
                              Alisha and Lucinda: That's terrible!
Xiao: Yes, it was, it killed some people outside and severely damaged others, we were a few of them that got the least damage but it hit us in our faces. We managed to duck inside before it rained heavily but it burned heavily.
                              Pure: When did this happen?
Horatio: About 8 years ago it happened all over the world, it's when they stopped drilling for oil, switched completely to alternative energies, even your project to use carbon dioxide was a big hit since most of it was in the atmosphere at the time.
Xiao: Yes, not before we were dying of the acid, our father quickly made a compound to neutralize it but not before it did damage to us. It destroyed my eyes and his throat but he remembered something from your work and it was a combination of bio and tech. Our mother did not like the idea of us living off of machines but he had no other options. We were the best thing that happened to him since he met pure so he went ahead anyway. He installed this machine so that he could breathe but it relied on my breathing. My father didn't want him confined to an oxygen tank and away from my brother who could no longer speak.
Jack: And how did your mother take it?
Xiao: She did not take it well since the machines were installed and having to look at monsters who used to be kids.
                              Pure: I'm a monster too.
Lucinda: So am I but it doesn't mean your mother should get that way they should still keep them no matter what.
Xiao: which is why our dad left the house in her care and bought the building we were in so that he could continue finding a cure for us so that we did not need the machinery to live.
Horatio: So how did he die?
Xiao: Since he was studying so much trying to cure us it cost him his own life; being near the computers and chemicals together doubled the damage towards him and put cancer in his vital organs. He built machines to keep him alive as well but death was inevitable in his condition. So instead he taught us everything he knew before he died and prepared us for when pure would surface.
Randal: But how are you going to help us?
Xiao: Our father taught me the biotech side of his work since my other senses could tell what it was and a computer AI in my ear helped me on which chemical it was. My brother got the mechanical side of my father since he had his eyes but couldn't speak so he and the computer could understand each other.
Pure: So what's in the container I hauled out of there with you two?
Xiao: Right before he died he gave us blueprints for some things he wanted to build for you he started them but we finished them right down to the letter we stored them in the container for you to haul out when you got to us.
