Child

The bus was eerily quiet.

Jin insisted on driving even though it was night and he hadn't slept in two days. The fact that we didn't run into any trouble for three days is making everyone worried. 

We've been avoiding the main road, going nowhere in particular and It was obvious it was taking its toll on everyone.

I did my best to stay awake and keep Jin company, but I ended up giving in to the relaxing cool night breeze.

'can you stop for a minute' Yoongi stood beside Jin holding a cigarette package in his hand and Jin knew why he wanted to stop. Jin had made it a rule not to smoke on the bus as he kept some experiments plants on the backseats and he didn't want them to get contaminated. So whenever Yoongi; the only smoker in the group, needed to smoke, which is twice every hour, he had to stop the bus and let him off.

'How's Hoseok?' Jin asked sitting on the bus step while Yoongi took a drag and blew it up in the air.

'It's getting worst, I'm not sure I can keep it lowkey any longer. The others are already starting to distance themselves from him'

'Did you talk to him? the other him' Jin clarified.

'He's not interested in talking, he only appears when I'm about to hit it with Hoseok' Yoongi complained taking another drag.

'and you don't like that' Jin watched amusingly as Yoongi blew out the smoke in a hurry to glare at him before answering

'of course I don't! and it doesn't help that Hoseok keeps no recollection of anything we do, but I do, and I think it's him but then it's not and it's so fucking annoying!'

'wow you're wiped' Jin commented after a moment of silence.

'I don't know what to do. this whole thing. we have no plan, nowhere to go, we can't trust anyone and I don't want us to not trust eachother too. Things are fucked up enough as they are'

The two sat in silence, Yoongi finished his smoke and lit a new one making Jin sigh.

'It's gonna work out, Namjoon just needs some time, he'll come up with something like he always does, trust him'

'do I have a choice?' 

'You can always fuck off' Namjoon said from the bus door behind Jin.

'please don't fight' Jin mumbled standing up getting ready to place himself between the two.

'we have a plan!' Namjoon pointed out making Yoongi chuckle.

'driving right to the headquarters and kicking their asses? The fuck man? Do we look like a suicide squad to you? we're not trained, most of us still have no idea how to control their powers let along use them in an intense fight'

'then why don't you come up with something instead?' Namjoon said back and to Jin's horror Yoongi threw his still lit cigarette on the grass in frustration and took a step closer to Namjoon.

Just as Jin hurried to take out the cigarette from the grass the three froze as a cry came from the dark wood around them.

'did you guys hear that?' Jin asked looking around trying to locate the source of the voice before he realised he didn't need to as Namjoon was already pointing to a specific tree and moving cautiously towards it.

The three looked around the three ready to face whoever was behind it but were surprised to see a small girl, no older than ten years, hugging her knees and sobbing in silence.

'hey there, are you ok?' Jin asked in a warm voice kneeling beside her while Yoongi took a few steps back reminded by the last child they run into.

The small girl didn't acknowledge their presence and only jolted back when Jin attempted to touch her shoulder.

'what should we do?' Namjoon asked.

'go get some blankets and a bottle of water' Jin ordered and Namjoon hurried to the bus to get the stuff, waking the others with his rumpage.

'what's a kid like her doing in the middle on nowhere?' Jungkook asked as soon as he saw her.

The child was refusing to take the bottle of water from Jin and kept pushing the blanket off of her body.

'doesn't matter, we can't leave her here' Jin said.

'should I remind you of what happened the last time we did that?' Namjoon pointed out.

'doesn't matter!' Jin glared at them making them go silent and watch him.

'hey there, I'm Jin, these are my friends. What's your name?' Jin waited futily for a reply before he added patiently 'Are you in pain? Does it hurt anywhere?' The small child nodded.

'ok! ok you can hear, that's good. Now where does it hurt? your head? your foot? your arm? your tummy?' Jin kept naming until he got another nod for his last suggestion.

'your tummy? your tummy hurts?' Jin got a confirming nod and he looked around trying to figure out if the kid had perhaps eaten something toxic but all he could see nearby are some wild elderberries.

'Tell me, did you eat those berries? were you hungry? did you eat the berries?' The child nodded and dropped some berries she still held in her hand.

'Are they poisonous?' Jimin asked worried.

'not really, they cause diarrhea and vomiting though. It's unpleasant. Jimin, can you grab my medicale kit please' Jimin hurried to bring what Jin asked as the others surrounded him watching carefully as the small girl took a sip from the bottle Jin held to her lips and allowed him to put the blanket over her shoulders.

'where did she come from? Namjoon can you tell?' Taehyung asked Namjoon.

'She knows who we are, Jin we have to go' Namjoon said making the girl hold Jin's arm tightly

'Namjoon I am NOT leaving this child here' Jimin arrived then and Jin took a pill and gave it to the child reassuring her it'll make the pain go away.

'is she one of them?' Jungkook asked Namjoon who was still glaring at Jin.

'What do you think genius? of course she is'

'hey! don't take it out on me!'

'both of you shut up! you're scaring her' the group looked at the small girl clutching Jin's arm while hiding her face behind it.

'Jin's right, we can't just leave a child here. if she's here it must mean there's a town nearby or a city.' Taehyung smiles at Namjoon trying to calm him down.

'finally, I swear if I had to sleep on that bus for one more night I'm gonna lose my mind' Jungkook said walking back to the bus followed by Taehyung, Namjoon and Jimin.

'I'll drive, you keep an eye on her' Yoongi offered getting a thank you from Jin before this one raised the small girl in his arms and brought her to the bus.

'you alright?' Hoseok asked Yoongi when he noticed him staring at him.

'yeah, are you?' Hoseok shrugged a shoulder and kept looking at him, waiting for him to get in the bus but instead Yoongi moved closer to him and spoke in a deep voice.

'As soon as we get to that village, the two of us are getting a bed'
