37.Phone call

After reaching the airport he went to do all the formalities and then we waved bye to him and came back. We reached home and I went to my room. After some time to eat dinner, I went downstairs. I talked with Aunt, Kavya for some time and then came to my room.

I was not able to sleep. I rolled on the bed and felt uncomfortable at the thought that I was sleeping alone in the room. After some time I heard a few knocks on my door. As I was not asleep I immediately got up and opened the door.

Kavya was standing outside with a blanket and teddy in her hands. I smiled and she came inside pushing the door and me aside. After coming she got on my bed and slept keeping her teddy beside her.

I locked the door. After coming inside she turned towards me and said with a little anger on her face "Bhayya forced me to come here. He called me ten times asking me to come and sleep in your room as you are alone."

I smiled and I said "You don't have to sleep here if you are not comfortable Kavya. It's okay."

She pouted her mouth and said "I don't have an option bhabi. Bhayya blackmailed me. If I am not sleeping here for 3 days until he comes back he will tell my secret to Dad. Damn, I should have been more careful with him."

I chuckled at her and then she turned that side and said "Good night Bhabi. You are really lucky that my brother loves you this much."

She slept immediately holding her teddy tight. What did she just say? He loves me? He cares for me I guess but love? No way!. How can my mind get this disturbed by the thought of him loving me?

I pushed aside all my thoughts and tried to sleep. When I was still not getting sleep my phone started ringing. As Kavya was getting disturbed by the phone sound I immediately kept my phone in silent mode.

I got out of bed and went to the balcony. I lifted the call seeing inside to make sure Kavya was not getting disturbed because of my voice.

"Hello," I said without seeing the name on the display because of all this.

"Hi, princess." I was shocked by the voice. My eyes which were busy till now seeing Kavya grew wide and I shifted my full focus towards my phone call.

"Hi.Reached?" I asked not knowing how to start the conversation.

"Yeah.Reached long back. Just now got settled in the hotel." He said and continued "I thought you would be asleep and would not pick up my call. Didn't sleep yet?"

"Not able to sleep actually, "I replied hesitating as I was not sure how he would take that statement.

"Kavya is with you?" He questioned me. I could sense from his voice that he was sleeping and talking as his breathing intensified.

I slowly sat on the chair that was there on the balcony. I rubbed my shoulders with my free hand as I was feeling cold.

"Yeah. She came here some time back. She is sleeping inside. I came to the balcony as my voice would disturb her."I said calmly trying not to shiver through my words.

"Balcony? It might be cold right? Cover yourself with some blanket princess. Otherwise, you will get a fever." He said and his voice was full of concern and worry.

I was shocked by his concern. How can he care about me this much? He even sent Kavya by blackmailing her. And now even though I didn't tell him that I was feeling cold he guessed and was worrying about my health.

Suddenly I was brought out of my thoughts when I heard his voice on the other side of the phone "Princess? You are there?"

I snapped back and responded "Yeah. I am not feeling cold actually. I am fine here."

He hushed for a second and told with a change in his voice "Princess. Why can't you listen to what I say immediately?"

I laughed a little bit. I got up from my chair and opened the door silently. I went inside and came out as silently as possible bringing my blanket and closing the door back.

After sitting in my chair and covering myself with the blanket I spoke again "Hmm. Done. I was covered with my thick blanket now. Happy?"

I heard a small chuckle from the other side of the phone. By the sound, I could say that he might have shifted from one side to the other side of his bed.

"Good girl." He complimented with a laugh in his voice.

"Why did you blackmail Kavya to come to my room? I didn't say that I was feeling alone or afraid right?" I asked trying to ask the question that had been eating my brain from the moment Kavya said that he loves me.

He smiled a little and then with utmost seriousness in his voice he said "Because I know that you will feel alone. I can't leave you to be on your own for three days princess. That is not the reason why I married you right?"

"So. You will be there with me always?" I asked without knowing why those words left my mouth.

"Always Princess. I have promised your father while I took your hand into mine. Even though we are being friends I do care for you and will never leave you on your own. Trust me." He said and I can sense the seriousness in his voice.

But wait did he say Friends again? So this was all because of friendship and not love as Kavya told before. Hmm. But why am I feeling sad to know that this is not love? I am not in love with him. That is for sure. But why am I expecting him to love me when I don't have any feelings for him?

"Princess there?" I came back by his words.

"Yeah.Thanks for that. By the way, what did you say to blackmail her?" I asked trying to divert the topic in my mind. I don't want to think more about his words.

He smiled and I can say that he got up from his sleeping position. Now he is sitting as his voice sounded stable "Hmm that's a secret. I can't reveal that."

"Hmm," I said without forcing him to share her secret.

"Princess?All okay?" I can sense the seriousness in his voice.

"Yeah. I am good. Just thinking what that secret will be" I lied as I knew what my mind was thinking about. The only word that revolves around my mind is Friends.
