*Chris’s Point of View*

Friday morning was tense.

We were all worried about the meeting tonight, so none of us were in a very friendly mood.

We laughed with people who commented on the dance, but we were on edge.

On the way to gym with Seth, Roary intercepted us.

He stopped in front of us, smirking.

“Move,” I told him, “I’m so not in the mood.”

“I wasn’t in the mood to get suspended for a day either, but I did,” he retorted, “Which one of you half-wits told the guidance counselor?”

I glanced at Seth but he looked just as confused as I did.

“We don’t know what you’re talking about,” I told him, shoving past.

He grabbed my hair.

“You’ll pay, bitch,” he told me, yanking.

I yelped and turned as best as I could and socked him in the stomach.

He released me and Seth grabbed my hand and pulled me away, down the hall.

“You’ll see tonight not to mess with me, you stupid whore!”

His threat was empty; he didn’t know where I lived.

We slipped into class just as the bell rang and joined Nathan’s team with Tyler.

“Who’s all going again?” I asked him, ducking under a dodge ball flying my way.

“You, Dylan, Conner,” he paused as he narrowly avoided another dodge ball, “Tyler and Nathan.”

“What are you going to do during the meeting?” I asked.

“I’m not letting you guys go alone; I’ll be in the car, watching for anything suspicious,” he told me.

Nathan came up behind us and intervened.

“Anything suspicious?” Nathan asked, his eyebrows raised.

“You’d be stupid to trust every fighter that fights in the Rings,” Seth stated gravely.

We left it at that.

We were just about to leave for the meeting.

After deciding on taking two vehicles, we split into two groups.
