*Ashleigh's POV*

Everything went black.

I was woken up by the sound of my mom's crying. My eyes slowly lifted open. I felt so weak.

"W-what just..happened?" I weakly asked. I looked at my arm. It had a cast on it. My head had a huge bandage around it.

My mom buried her head in my chest and started sobbing. "Thank God you are alive, Ashleigh. I love you so so much."

"I love you too. But what happened?"

"You and Hayes got in a car accident." My mom said.

"Hayes?! Where is he?!" I jerked up, feeling a sharp pain in my arm. Hayes is my close friend and I've been in love with him for so long.

"He hasn't woken up yet. I don't know if he's okay or not." My mom said.

"I need to see him." I tried getting up but something weighed me down. There was a cast on half of my leg. I tried getting up. I was crying so hard. My mom told me to sit back down.

The doctor walked in. "It's not a good idea to get up, Ashleigh."

"Where is Hayes? I need to see Hayes." I sobbed. "I need to get up and see him."

"Hayes might not wake up." The doctor said quietly. "But we'll try our best to keep him stable."

I sobbed harder. Everything hurt. "You're damn right you have to try hard! I might as well die with him!"

"Ashleigh!" My mom yelled, tearing up. "How can you say such a thing?!"

"Let me see Hayes. Now." I said with a shaky voice.

The doctor sighed. "Well I suppose if we put you on a wheelchair."

A nurse came and I struggled to get into the wheelchair. She pushed me into Hayes's room. His whole family was surrounding him, crying.

"Ashleigh!" Everyone said and came to hug me. We all started crying harder. "Are you okay?!"

"I'm fine. I just wanted to come and see Hayes. D-do you mind if I have a few minutes alone with him?" I asked nervously. Everyone nodded and left the room.

I put one hand on Hayes's hand. "I don't know what the hell just happened. But it almost defeated us. It won't defeat you, babe. You are going to live."

I looked at him. His face was pale.

"Please live." My voice cracked. "I'll have nothing if you don't live. I need you. I need you to wake up, Hayes. Please wake up."

I started to sob harder as I looked at Hayes who was knocked out cold. I squeezed his hand.

"I-I love you..." I said softly. "I love you so much. Please wake up. I love you."

I sat there for about half an hour, talking and watching Hayes by myself. Then, his eyes started to slowly flutter open. He looked confused.

But he was alive.

"Oh my god, Hayes, y-you're alive! I love you so much. Oh my god." I cried.

"What happened to me? And you?"

"We got in a car accident. But we're okay. Hayes you don't even know how happy I am. You're alive. I love you."

Hayes looked at me for a minute. "Ashleigh?"

"Yeah?"

"I...love you too." He said weakly.I wanted to kiss him so bad, but I couldn't get up. I started to cry tears of joy.

"Everyone come in! Hayes woke up!" I yelled. Everyone rushed in, including the doctor. I kissed Hayes's hand and the nurse pushed me back to my room. I had the hugest smile on my face.
