Emotional Jumper Cables (Bucky Barnes)

You were part of the Avengers, but sometimes, you just needed some time to yourself to relax and get away from the crazy life for a while. The team and even your boyfriend knew that when you weren't in the facility, you were in the woods, in your little tree that they often found you reading in, just enjoying the peace that surrounded you.

Today, you were kinda off and unusually quiet. No one knew why. Not even Bucky. You have spent most of the day outside and in your tree, just looking up at the sky. Thinking about your dad who passed away recently. His death had hit you hard, you acted like you were fine when you were around the team, but when you were alone, you let the sadness just wash over you and just hold you down in a dark pit of grief.

Bucky was in the main room with the team, they were all watching a movie. Well, the movie served as background noise as they all worried about you. They knew you were in your tree, but couldn't help but worry about if you were ok and why you haven't come inside yet.

"Ok, I can't take it any longer. I'm gonna go check on her." Bucky finally said and jumped up from the couch.

He walked out of the facility and towards the woods where your tree was located. As he got closer, he could hear you sniffling and crying. He walked a bit faster and got to your tree to find you curled up in a ball with you knees hugged close to your chest and your head resting on the top of your arms.

You didn't hear Bucky walking through the woods and stop in front of you. You were closed off in your own little world of grief and sadness. Bucky started to climb up the tree so he could sit next to you, there was definitely room for two. He knew because he joined you there sometimes.

"Hey, what's wrong?" He asked you gently and rubbed your back a little bit. You jumped slightly and looked up to see Bucky there. You nodded and dried your eyes a little bit.

"Yeah. It's just my dad died recently and it's just hit me really hard. My Dad was like my best friend and stuff. That's all." You mumbled.

"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that baby," Bucky mumbled and let you rest your head on his shoulder. You flopped your head down and he ran his hand through your hair. You just sniff and sit there.

"Hey, how about we go inside and get you something to eat and watch a movie?" Bucky asked and moved so you would look at him.

"Ok." You nodded. He smiled a bit and climbed down from the tree, you following moments later. You guys started walking back to the facility when you just stopped.

"What's wrong?" Bucky turned back and asked.

"I feel sad." You mumbled and hugged yourself. Bucky smiled slightly and walked over to you.

"I have emotional jumper cables, I'll boost your mood," He opened up his arms and began to wrap them around you. "Just attach like so..." He pulls you to his chest with his arms wrapped tightly around you.

"This is just a hug." You mumbled and looked up at him, a slight smile curling your lips.

"Is it working?" Bucky asked with a small smirk.

"....Yeah." You mumbled and wrapped your arms around him, placing your head on his chest.

"Emotional jumper cables." He mumbles, causing you to giggle.

Bucky chuckled and picked you up, with you still wrapped around him like a little koala bear. He walked inside and got you what you wanted to eat and he walked off to your shared bedroom. He flopped you onto the bed and handed you your ice cream and went to go pick a movie before flopping down next to you.

"Thanks, Bucky." You mumbled.

"No problem Doll." He gave you a smile and wrapped his arm around you.

You grinned and watched the movie with him while eating your huge bowl of ice cream, sharing with him every now and then as he kissed your forehead every now and then.

So, on that note, everyone needs a hug sometime in their life. Or, as some people would call it, an emotional boost using Emotional Jumper Cables.
