Regrets (Bucky Barnes)

Three year old you, playing in a sandbox in the park, the happiest little girl right then and there. Until a group of five year old boys came over and started picking on you. You tried to fight back but you couldn't as they pulled on your hair. You started crying. They finally let go of you when another boy about five came over and told them off.

"You leave this little girl alone! Go pick on someone your own size!" He growled and the group all ran away. The boy then helped you up and dried your tears.

"Thank you." You mumbled and gave him a small smile.

"No problem. What's your name? My name is James, but My best friend calls me Bucky and you can too." He cheered with a big grin.

"I'm (Y/n). It's nice to meet you, Bucky." You smiled as wide as he did. "Wanna play in the dirt with me? Your friend can too!" You asked.

"Sure. Let me go get him!" Bucky smiled and ran off for a second and you plopped yourself down in the dirt again and they came back.

From that day forward, the three of you became the best of friends.

And you have been for 80 years. But you were taken at the age of 16 by HYDRA and they turned you into a puppet and Bucky came years after that, but you had forgotten who he was by then thanks to HYDRA.

But then you were taken by the Avengers and they helped you return to your normal self and Steve helped you as well.

Now, you were in Wakanda, living a peaceful life in the castle. Courtesy of King T'Challa and helping you regain your memories and close off the rigger words of HYDRA so they could never take control of you again.

You were sitting in the lab with Shuri and the other scientists when Steve walked in, still in his Captain America suit, with... Bucky? 

You gasped slightly when you saw him, his metal arm gone and dried blood all over his face. You only knew him as Winter in your time at HYDRA, but to see him now like this, made your heart ache with pain as your feelings for him had resurfaced.

"Bucky..." You whispered and he looked up.

"(Y/N)..." He mumbled and a faint smile painted his lips.

Tears of joy came to your eyes when you saw him. You waited until Steve sat him down before you ran over and hugged your best friend. He wrapped his remaining arm around you and you laid your head on his shoulder.

"I missed you..." You mumbled.

"I missed you too, doll." He mumbled back and you smiled.

You pulled back from the hug and went to get a washcloth so you could clean his face. You were gentle as you did so and he watched your face as you did. Steve smiled slightly as he watched the two of you.

You and Bucky spent the next two days together as he remembered more about you. And his feelings for you returned.

And today, Bucky was going back into cryogenic freeze. You were in the room with him, playing with his fingers a little bit.

"I love you, (Y/N)." He mumbled and you grinned but you were afraid to say it back. It was then time for Bucky to go under and you watched as he was frozen.

"I love you too..." You whispered under your breath but he didn't hear it. And you instantly regretted not telling him because a sense of loneliness washed over you and you quickly walked out of the room as tears started to gather in your eyes.

A couple years went by and you were outside when you saw Steve's quinjet come and land. You stood up from where you were sitting on the steps and ran towards him for a hug. You smiled as he held you close and then you pulled away. You started talking to him when you heard some footsteps, you turned around and grinned when you saw Bucky coming towards you. You then ran to him and jumped into his arms giving him a tight hug.

But your happiness didn't last long because the mad Titan Thanos and his army came crashing down to the Earth. You got into position with the Wakandian army, standing in the front, between Bucky and Steve. Feeling powerful and unstoppable.

The fight then started when the barrier around Wakanda opened and you took off into the fight before anyone could stop you. Killing creatures with the powers HYDRA gave you. You had telekinesis, telepathy, and you could control the elements. You were on such a power rush, you didn't notice the creatures coming up behind you.

You turned around just as it pounced on you and it slashed your shoulder with its claws and you screamed out on pain before you burnt it to ash. You got up and held your shoulder in pain, scrunching your face up. You made a couple of vines wrap around it to stop it from bleeding. You burnt a few more to ash as you fought them. Bucky then came running over and shot some of them down as they were creeping up on you from behind.

"Thanks." You breathed out as you stood there and caught your breath.

"No problem, Doll." Bucky smiled. You grinned as the two of you teamed up and killed the creatures, covering each other as you guys plowed through them and to Thanos.

You got cut a few times but you didn't let that stop you as you wrapped vines around the cuts tightly. And you had a few possibly broken ribs, which were fun. But you know, fight through the pain no matter what.

You and Bucky came to be face to face with Thanos and the two of you were ready to fight the giant purple grape.

"Ah, what do we have here?" Thanos smiled and then picked you up around the waist, squeezing your broken ribs, you groaned in pain.

"Let her go!" Bucky yelled. Thanos laughed and just dropped you to the ground. The wind getting knocked out of you made you wheeze from where you laid.

Bucky then ran forward, getting ready to fight Thanos before he got all the Infinity Stones. You then got up and helped him. The both of you worked together to kill Thanos, ending the war without anyone in the team dying or getting seriously injured. Well, except you.

You tuned to Bucky and smiled faintly before you collapsed. The blood loss and pain finally getting to you. Bucky ran over to you and looked over your injuries. You were fading in and out of consciousness.

"You know I love you too, right?" You mumbled, barely keeping your eyes open.

"Stay with me. I'm gonna pick you up and take you to the castle." Bucky said and picked you up. He then started to run to the castle. you grunting her e and there as pain shot through you.

He got to the castle in record time and took you to Shuri's lab where Bruce met up with him after seeing you in his arms. Steve as well.

Shuri and Bruce then started patching you up as Bucky watched nervously. Once they got your wounds stitched up and you stable, you called for Bucky.

"I'm right here Doll." He said and kissed your hand.

"I love you." You mumbled over and over again, making him smile. He then kissed you to stop your rambling.

"I love you too. When you get all healed up, why don't we go on a date?" He asked when he pulled away.

"That sounds like fun." You mumbled and closed your eyes sleepily.

"Good." Bucky smiled and kissed your forehead.

You were let out of the medical wing of the castle a few days later and Bucky took you on that date he promised you. The two of you had an awesome time. You two then spent the rest of your lives together, living happily and raising a family. Steve happy for the both of you, his best friends.

And you never Regretted telling Bucky how much you loved him, every single day you two were together. Living your life happily, together.
