Smitty, Toby, and John sat in the back of the classroom on the floor, Smitty sitting in between the other two and leaning on John while Toby held his hand. Smitty sighed happily, shifting slightly so he could rest his head on John's shoulder. John hummed and kissed the top of Smitty's head before looking back to his phone.

They sat in a comfortable silence for maybe ten minutes before the teacher walked in, apologizing for being so late. The three ignored her and continued to sit in the back.

It wasn't until she was taking role that she had noticed them in the back. "Smitty? Has anyone seen Smitty?"

"He's in the back," a student called out, looking at the three. Smitty lowered his head and squeezed Toby's hand while John pulled him closer.

"What are you doing on the floor? Get up and sit in your seats."

Smitty sat up so she could see him and just shook his head. He didn't want to leave them. He couldn't leave them. He couldn't even bear the thought of leaving them, and he teared up a little, but wiped those away and slouched back down in the comfort of John and Toby.

"Excuse me? Get in your seats, now."

"I don't wanna," he mumbled quietly, burying his face into John's shoulder. The teacher walked over to them.

"Get up, or I'll call the front office."

Smitty looked up at her and didn't move from his spot, actually sinking down a bit.

She looked at the other two and sighed. She wasn't going to try with them, they had done this stuff before, and there was no changing their minds without getting hurt in the process.

She walked back to her desk and called the front office, explaining the situation before ending the call. She looked back at Smitty, "You have until they get here to get into your seat." Smitty didn't say anything, only looking between Toby and John, who gave him assuring looks. He relaxed, sighing quietly and closing his eyes.

Soon some administrators came in, and the teacher pointed them to the back of class where the three sat.

The administrator walked over to them and paused when he saw Toby and John sitting beside Smitty. He sighed and squatted down. "Why aren't you getting up?"

Smitty didn't respond, only gripping John and Toby tighter. The administrator sighed again. "This is only making this difficult to you. Why aren't you listening to your teacher and getting into your seat?" Smitty didn't answer, only looking at John and Toby. "Hey, don't look at them, look at me. This isn't their problem. It's yours. Now, why don't you start listening to your teacher or we'll have to bring you to the front office to deal with you." Smitty didn't even blink, and he just completely ignored him. The administrator sighed again, and placed a hand on Smitty's leg.

Smitty instantly kicked his leg, almost kicking the administrator in the stomach. The administrator pulled his hand back in shock, and Smitty gave him a blank stare. John smirked slightly, and Toby held back his giggles. "Son, if you don't get up, we're going to have to bring you down to the office." Smitty didn't even attempt to move.

The administrator sighed and started to pull Smitty up by the arm. Or at least, he tried to. Smitty instantly began fighting against him, thrashing around and pulling back harshly. Another administrator came over and tried to hold Smitty still, but Smitty started to scream, still thrashing around. They started to pull him back and out of the classroom, and he got even more violent.

He was shaking and he was starting to sob; they were taking him away from Toby and John, he couldn't leave them, he needed them, he couldn't live without them, he didn't want to leave them, he wanted them. He couldn't breathe without them, he couldn't think without them, he couldn't do anything without them. They were his everything, and if he didn't have them? He might as well have been dead.

"TOBY! JOHN!" He yelled and sobbed out their names multiple times, still struggling against the adults, kicking and hitting and even biting.

After the door to the classroom shut, Toby and John looked at each other before getting up and just leaving the class, holding hands as they walked in the direction of Smitty's yelling.

When they got to the front office, they could still hear Smitty crying and yelling for them, but his voice was beginning to sound a bit hoarse.

"Aww, the poor baby is ruining his voice," Toby sighed quietly. John hummed in agreement and he quickly found Smitty sitting alone in an office, curled up in the chair, still yelling for the two. Luckily the door was still open.

John knocked on the door, "Hey, we're here."

Smitty turned instantly and got up, hugging them both, still sobbing and shaking. "They - they - they wanted to take me away," he choked out, "and - and I didn't wanna go. But - but they made me, and - and - and -"

"Shh, it's alright baby, we get it," Toby cooed, running his hand through Smitty's hair. "We're gonna go home, and we're gonna stay with you, okay? We're not gonna leave you. We're never going to leave you. Isn't that right, John?"

John nodded and kissed Smitty's head. "Mhm. Now let's go home, baby boy. You've had a stressful day." Smitty looked up at them and nodded, wiping his one red eye, which was twitching non-stop.

They held Smitty's hands as they walked out to their car, no one stopping them. Toby sat in the back with Smitty, holding his hand and calming him down, telling him that they were here now and that they weren't going to leave him. Not then, not ever. They were a family.
