Emma

"Emma sweetheart don't cry. Mummy will take you to work first and then we'll take you to school when it's time"
Jac was supposed to be meeting Jonny to take Emma to school on her first day but he had broken his leg so Emma was now at Jac's full time and she had been up since 5am crying
"I don't want to go to horrible school Mummy"
"Baby you'll have so much fun"
"No I won't" Emma sulked
Eventually they got into Jac's office. Jac had to cancel a couple of things and juggle her diary so that she could leave and take Emma. Jac was flying round whilst Emma stood with her arms folded crossly
There was a knock at the door
"Come in Fletch" Jac snapped
"Mummy how did you know it was Fletch " asked Emma as he walked in
"Magic" Fletch answered "hey monkey, don't you look smart in your school uniform. Are you excited?"
"No. I'm not going"
"Wow. I mean I don't blame you  — all those games and the playground and lots of people to play with. All that fun - yeah I think I would give it a miss too"
Jac was vaguely listening to this exchange whilst she changed her diary on the computer
Emma seemed to be considering what he'd said but still stood crossly with her arms folded
Fletch stuck his tongue out at her
He registered her look of surprise before she did the same back to him. They then spent 2 minutes alternately sticking tongues out at each other. Soon both Emma and Fletch were in fits of laughter.
Jac had been watching the exchange with a huge wave of love washing over her for both of them.
"So you ready for school then scamp?" Fletch asked
"Yes Fletch. Will you come too?"
"Er well that's up to Mummy" he glanced at Jac
"I'm sure Fletch is busy sweetheart"
"Well first thing on my schedule today is ward round with Ms Naylor so should be ok"
"Yay" said Emma jumping up and down
Jac laughed "come on then both of you" she smiled gratefully at Fletch and allowed their hands to brush as she ushered Emma out
