Chapter 27

Courtney's POV
I am about sixteen weeks into my pregnancy. I had another appointment today. Darry couldn't get off work so Soda and Ponyboy are going with me. If we're lucky we'll be able to find out the gender, but I don't know if I want to know. As long as my baby is healthy I don't care what the gender is. I had checked in once I arrived with Ponyboy and Sodapop and sat in the waiting area with my brothers.
"Soda I'm nervous. What if something's wrong? What if the baby has a birth defect?" I said nervously.
"A birth what?" Soda asked confused and I just shook my head. Before I could say anything Ponyboy beat me to it.
"A birth defect is an abnormality that one acquires. A birth defect can include Down syndrome, blindness, deafness, etc." Ponyboy said.
"Oh, nah your baby won't have any of that. Your baby will be healthy and if it ain't we will still love it." Sodapop said with a smile.
"Soda's right. I'm sure everything will be fine." Ponyboy said.
"Courtney Curtis?" I heard the nurse say and got up followed by my brothers as we were lead to the room.
"Doctor Martinez will be right with you." The nurse said and left. Soda held my hand as I waited nervously and Pony just sat down. I prayed everything would be okay.
