Patton's soulmate was in a bad mood today.

He knew that due to the slow, sad music he had been hearing all day. He had woken up with the lyrics to 'Overgrown' by Oh Wonder, and since then, the songs had progressively grown darker and more depressing. It was late evening now, and 'See You Again' by Wiz Khalifa was his soulmate's choice of music.

Patton sighed as gentle piano notes filled his ears. He wanted his soulmate to be happy, but he didn't know how.

And then he had an idea.

He picked out one of his favorite songs and began to sing.

"You with the sad eyes, don't be discouraged. Oh I realize, it's hard to take courage. In a world full of people, you can lose sight of it all. The darkness inside you can make you feel so small."

He knew the song was cliché and sappy, but the lyrics were much deeper. He continued to sing, and only faintly noticed when the sad music in his head cut off.

"And I see your true colors shining through. I see your true colors, and that's why I love you."

Patton paused briefly, listening.

Then, slowly, softly:

"Thank you, for the real sacrifice and the truth behind your giving heart, and how you’d never judge or faulted me; helped me ‘cause you wanted to."

It was quiet for a while, and Patton hoped his soulmate was feeling better. Until, the presence of sad lyrics filled his ears once more. His soulmate's voice was beautiful, he decided.

"The world is spinning but only in gray. If I break the glass, then I'll have to fly. There's no one to catch me if I take a dive. I'm scared of changing, the days stay the same."

Patton scrolled through his playlist quickly, searching for an adequate upbeat song.

"If you tossin' and you're turnin' and you just can't fall asleep, I'll sing a song beside you, and if you ever forget how much you really mean to me, everyday I will remind you."

Patton could almost feel his soulmate smiling.

Next morning...

"Little darling, the smiles returning to the faces. Little darling, it seems like years since it's been here. Here comes the sun, here comes the sun, and I say: 'it's all right'."

Patton let his eyes flutter shut, returning to sleep with the sound of his soulmate's heavenly voice in his head.
