"Good job, Grey," Dr Callaghan complimented me at the end of my shift.

I smiled as an implied thank you as I scrubbed out of the OR.

Paediatrics was by far the toughest field, in my opinion. Dealing with kids but more especially babies was difficult. Today was my first major case. A patient came in with complications in her pregnancy. Dr Callaghan insisted on doing an emergency C-section and I assisted. It was a success and that's all I care about.

I got rid of my scrubs and headed towards the residents lounge at the end of my shift. The room was empty when I got there. I took my time changing back into my normal clothes. I slipped on black jeans, pumps and a badge shirt and placed my uniform into my cubicle. I grabbed my purse and headed for the parking lot. Just as I stepped out of the hospital, a voice called out from behind me.

"Kate! Wait up," Javi was jogging to catch up to me, still dressed in his uniform.

"Hey," I greeted him.

He pulled out a card from his coat and handed it to me,"here, it's the gym membership card you wanted."

Last weekend, while strolling down town in search of a quality gym, I came across Javi at re-shape where he offered to get me a membership card.

"Thanks. I thought you forgot about it."

"It's been lying in my pocket the whole week. Sorry, I've been busy," he answered sheepishly.

"It's okay. Maybe I'll check it out today."

"You do that," he smiled, "I got to go check up on my patient before my shift ends."

"I'll see you on Monday then," I told him.

"Yeah," he replied and headed back into the hospital.

I jumped into my car and the engine roared to life. Obviously I couldn't hit the gym in these clothes so I drove home first. I parked in the driveway and power walked into the house.

"Hey, Selma," I greeted her, not waiting for a response, as I made my way upstairs.

Such a rude child.

In my closet I began raiding the racks for clothes. I pulled out a black tank top and black work out shorts. After changing into my newly assigned clothes, I slipped into a pair of comfortable sneakers. I grabbed a towel, my cellphone as well as a pair of earphones and headed back downstairs. Selma was nowhere to be found so I just grabbed a bottle of water and headed back out to my car.

Re-shape was in the middle of a mini shopping center. Coffee shops and fast food places where the main attractions surrounding the area. I locked up my car in the parking lot and headed towards the gym.

At the entrance was a reception desk. Behind it sat a brunette who was currently busy with another member. Swiping my card through the access panel, the doors to the gym opened. It was a unisex gym and the inside was already busy with sweaty men and women.

I decided to start slowly so I headed towards the treadmills. I placed my towel and water bottle on the steel bench like structure in front of the treadmill. I put my car keys in my pocket, hooked my glasses to my chest and tied my hair into a messy ponytail, leaving a couple of strands out to frame my face. I secured my phone to my arm band, put my earphones on and got onto the treadmill. I put my music on play as I played with the settings on the treadmill.

After about 15 minutes on the treadmill, I moved on to the weights for another 15 minutes, then on to the work out mat for another 30 minutes alternating between push ups, sit ups, skipping and lunges before finally heading to the sand bag for a couple of minutes. I found that working out, be it jogging or punching a bag, was therapeutic. It also helped building muscle strength, improving your self defense skills and reflexes.
