Kate

I said it!

I said the one thing that I never thought I'd say to anyone other than Alex or mum. And how do I feel? Extremely happy!

Happy that I had built up the courage to finally admit my true feelings not only to myself but to the person that matters. Happy that I didn't freeze or freak out like I thought I would throughout this week when my anxiety was getting the better of me.

I love you, is not an easy thing to say. I've often heard those words being tossed around meaninglessly and to be honest, it was rather annoying. In my 25 years of existence I knew that the day I said those words to someone would be a day I truly meant it with every fiber of my being. Today was that day.

As I stare out at the passing city, I find myself oblivious to everything around me except the feel of Tyler's hand on my thigh. A quick glance at the time on the dashboard and a much more observant intake of my surroundings almost causes me to screech.

"Shit," I say loud enough to grab Tyler's attention.

"Everything okay?"

"Not exactly," I reply. How could I forget about that damn party. "Can we turn around?"

"Why."

"I just remembered that I was supposed to pick up something for Hay from Dimitri's. You know how those two are," I lie through my teeth.

"I thought things were better between them lately," he doesn't seem to be buying it.

"I thought so too but she messaged me this morning and said that she'll pick it up from me tomorrow."

"Does it have to be right now? I can take you in the morning. I was hoping to spend the day with just you, Specs," he pouts like a little child.

"If you take me now then there won't be anything to disturb our time later. Wouldn't that be better?" I try my best puppy dog eyes on him.

"I guess."

"So can we get going? I promise it won't take long," I tell him.

Tyler gracefully make a u-turn and heads in the direction of Dimitri's house. The house that we pulled up to was a modern, double storey, red brick house with a two car garage. For a single guy, living on his own his front lawn was immaculate.

"Are you coming inside?" I ask, hoping he'll accept the invite.

"I rather not. It'll be quicker if you just pop in and out and besides, I really don't wanna do the whole happy birthday thing."

Uhmm...to late Tyler.

"Oh c'mon, Ty. It's just Dimitri. We'll be quick I promise," I tried to convince him. Why does he have to be so stubborn sometimes? "Please," I add.

"I hate it when you do that," he groans in annoyance while undoing his seatbelt. That's a good sign.

"Which is exactly why I do it," I reply and proceed to do the same.

While Tyler is jumping out the car, I text D a quick thumbs up letting him know that we're outside. This should be fun. I wait for Tyler to open my door, which I usually don't do but in this case we needed the extra time.

"2 minutes, I promise," I kiss him on his cheek while I link my arms in his.

After 3 rings and no answer, which was part of our plan, I pretended to happen to just find the door unlocked and let myself in with Tyler following closely behind. I called out for Dimitri and when there was no answer like I knew there wouldn't be, I led Tyler towards the back yard under the pretense of looking for his friend. Tyler walked silently with his hands in his pocket and eyes focused on the hardwood floor.
