Kate
For the next two weeks, everyone felt the need to be my personal bodyguards. It was sweet of them and I really appreciated it but it was unnecessary. Nic and Hazel made sure that they knew my whereabouts at all times even if I was just going to the bathroom. Well I guess that's granted seeing as how I pulled the "bathroom" stunt on Tyler at the charity, so that one's on me.
Today was an insanely long and busy day. Working the ER always had its pros and cons, being that the day goes by super fast but every ounce of energy from your body is drained with it. To make matters worse, I wasn't quite done for the day yet. Tyler had scheduled our second checkup with Dr Michaels this afternoon. I knew today was going to be different because our little bundle of joy had been growing. So much so that I had already developed the tiniest of bumps. It wasn't noticable to anyone who just glanced at me but I knew it was there. I hadn't shown Tyler yet but I was planning to this afternoon just before the checkup.
"You guys do know that y'all don't gotta wait with me right?" I questioned Nic and Hay as the three of us sat in the residents lounge. "Tyler should be here at any minute."
"Nah ah," Hay said with her arms crossed in front of her. "Do you think we care? We're waiting with you."
I rolled my eyes knowing I wasn't going to win this one. As if on cue, Tyler walked in and flashed me a warming smile.
"I can take it from here ladies," he said.
Really?
"You sure?" Nic asked.
"Yesssss," I said exasperated and desperately wanting them to leave.
"Firstly Missy, I wasn't talking to you. Secondly, I'm gonna leave now only because I know you're in good hands," Hay emphasized.
I rolled my eyes as the two of them hugged me goodbye but at the same time found a smile taking over my face. It was nice to know that there were real friends out there.
"You're in a good mood," Tyler stated before pecking my forehead.
"I am now," I smile back.
"You ready?"
I nodded with what probably looked like a suspicious smile on my lips.
"What?"
"I have something to show you before we go," I told him.
"Ah ha?" He arched an eyebrow, awaiting.
"Give me your hand," I said while reaching out for it. He was definitely surprised by the gesture but went along with it. I gingerly placed his palm flat against my stomach under my grey satin blouse and moved it up then down. "Do you feel that?" I asked.
His face contorted into a pondering expression, wondering what I'm going on about but soon, almost as if a literal light bulb came on, his eyes lit up with recognition.
"Shit," he smiled down at me. "It's like a little speed hump."
I couldn't help but laugh at his poor analogy.
"What? It's true." He seemed mesmerized by it, almost as mesmerized as he was the day he saw the first ultrasound.
"C'mon," he started, placing his palm on my back and leading the way, "let's go see what my little Specs junior looks like."
His words amused me but sort of made my heart do a little flutter at the same time.
"Specs junior?"
"Yeah," he answered instantly. "There's a mini you in there."
"What makes you say that?" I was genuinely curious but there was also the fact that I'd always assumed guys would want their first child to be a boy, but here's Tyler contradicting all my beliefs.

Romance"You were worried about me, Specs?" He smirked. "No, Tyler. I hoped that someone cut up your corpse and fed it to paranas. Obviously I was, you idiot! I'm a doctor. Worrying about people is kind of programmed into my system. It's a curse if you ask...
