Kate
Well, this afternoon was going better than I expected.
Tyler's reaction to everything had been all that I hoped it would be and better than I feared it would be. It's not like I thought that he's opinion of me would change after our talk, okay fine maybe I did but that's just because I'm a paranoid freak with trust issues. All of this just made me realize that I should've done this sooner because now I feel...lighter.
No more lies. No more secrets. No more hiding from the world, or more particularly from Tyler.
"Uhmm Specs? Did you hear what I just said?" He snaps me out of my mind babble.
"No. Sorry, I zoned out."
"Obviously," he chuckled.
"What were you saying?"
"I asked if you'd like anything to drink. More wine? Coffee? Hot chocolate?"
"Oh. Hot chocolate sounds good. I can't afford to be any more intoxicated tonight."
A confused frown appears on Tyler's face but disappears just as fast. "Coming up," he says while pecking my cheek. I take that as my signal and crawl out of his lap and watch as he saunters of to the kitchen.
To keep myself occupied, I switch on the TV and surf through the channels for something decent to watch. Apparently reruns are the only things playing on a Saturday night so I settle for a 5 episode marathon of The resident. Minutes later Tyler is back on the couch with two cups of steaming, decadent hot chocolate. I shift so that I am comfortably positioned between his legs with my head resting against his chest.
We get through the first episode with Tyler commenting on how he's way better looking than Dr Conrad Hawkins and how surprised he was at the fact that the show actually portrayed medicine accurately but then he grew quiet. Too quiet.
I feel his light breathing as he rests his chin on top of my head. The even rise and fall of his chest shouldn't bother me as much as it does but along with the eery silence, it couldn't possibly be a good thing and I think that I might know what it's about.
"Stop," I tell him.
"Stop what?"
"You're thinking about it. Stop," I elaborate, referring to everything that I just told him and possibly everything that is happening that is key to why I'm here right now.
"I'm not," he whispers into my hair.
I grab the remote, switch off the TV and sit both of our cups down on the table before turning around to face him. I know him well enough to be able to tell when he's lying and now was one of those times. He dropped his eyes to my necklace and twirled it in between his fingers instead of looking me in the eye.
"Tyler, look at me,"I say and when he doesn't, I lift him up by his chin to meet my eye level. "I told you those things so that we don't have to go back and think about it anymore but right now you're doing the complete opposite. Please stop."
"It's not just that, Specs. My mum hasn't even gotten back to me since yesterday and it's fucking unsettling," he runs a hand through his hair, obviously frustrated.
"Maybe that's a good thing? Maybe it means that there's nothing to be worried about," I try and ease his nerves.
"Yeah I really doubt that," he sighs.
"Well then can you not jump to conclusions just yet and wait until you hear from your mum?" I raise an eyebrow at him.
"I'm not promising anything."

Romance"You were worried about me, Specs?" He smirked. "No, Tyler. I hoped that someone cut up your corpse and fed it to paranas. Obviously I was, you idiot! I'm a doctor. Worrying about people is kind of programmed into my system. It's a curse if you ask...
