A week had passed since one of our biggest nightmares came to pass. No news from Alex and Chris about Theo. The purple bruising around Tyler's ribs were beginning to fade away the the stitches above my eyebrow had been removed leaving behind a faint scar.
What else is new?
Morning sickness had been a regular royal pain in my behind every single day and sometimes more than once. After much convincing and bribery with the aid of Lindt chocolate and teriyaki chicken, my mum finally agreed to let us come back to work.
I swear, the two of us combined have had more "sick leave" than anyone else in the hospital over the past year.
I for one was glad to be back. As much as staying at home was relaxing, looking at the walls and watching re runs of Friends could get a bit boring. My mum, Alex and Tyler's parents were over almost everyday, or whenever they had the chance, bringing us food and even desserts.
Hazel and Nic didn't even try to hide their enthusiasm with all the helium balloons filling up the residents lounge when we walked in.
"Welcome baaaack!" Hazel sang while grabbing us both in the biggest hug her tiny self could muster up.
"Thanks guys," Tyler said for the both of us. "But was this really necessary?"
"Uhm, are you dumb?! Of course it was! We missed you guys!" She replied.
Tyler and I couldn't hold back a small laugh.
"Oh and we have cake!" Dimitri exclaimed cheerfully as he uncovered the double layer chocolate cake.
As much as I love chocolate, just the sight of its decadent sweetness was enough to make me want to throw up my non existent breakfast.
"No thank you," I politely declined recieving raised eyebrows in the process from everyone except Tyler.
"Excuse you? NO ONE refuses chocolate cake!" Hazel protests
"I-"
Before I could even come up with a lie, Tyler jumped in like my knight in shining armour...ew, the analogy.
"She's been feeling wonky for a few days. Probably a bug going around," he said.
Everyone seemed to buy it but Javi was giving me a weird look. Of all the people in this room, he was possibly the most observent. That guy's like a mind reader, I just hope his 6th sense is failing him today. I'm not ready for anyone to know.
"Your loss, I'm having your share," Dimitri said, breaking the ice.
Hazel and Nic directed everyone towards the cake for a slice but Tyler pulled me aside by my arm.
"Hmm? What's up?" I asked.
"I booked us to see Dr Michaels just before lunch," he told me.
"Really?" I was surprised to say the least.
"Yeah," he nodded while biting the corner of his lip, his dead giveaway of nervousness.
I just smiled and replied with a simple, "okay," before pressing my lips to his for a quick second, catching him off guard.
"And that?"
I shrugged my shoulders and walked off to join the others who were getting ready for their shift while simultaneously eating cake.

Back to work couldn't have been more ironic than being assigned in the labour ward today. Labour and pregnancy seemed like such a normal thing every other day I worked the ward but now, actually being pregnant, seeing these woman give birth actually scares me. The excruciating pain and unforseen complications that come with it makes my heart want to jump out of my chest. Being a doctor and knowing the pro's and con's of the A to Z of pregnancy doesn't help ease my anxiety in the least bit.

Romance"You were worried about me, Specs?" He smirked. "No, Tyler. I hoped that someone cut up your corpse and fed it to paranas. Obviously I was, you idiot! I'm a doctor. Worrying about people is kind of programmed into my system. It's a curse if you ask...
