Thad couldn't believe how extra Blaine was. He bought a popcorn maker and popcorn, pulling Thad down to the kitchens with him.

Thad was still laughing as Blaine popped the kernels. "Come on, we don't have long until they find us. Explain," Blaine said.

Thad chuckled. "Fine, fine. You're just so ridiculous. So, I dropped off the grid because my parents made me transfer after the whole dance thing. Transferred to an all-girls school."

Thad just looked at Blaine, a complete look of exasperation. Blaine giggled. "I'm sorry, you just look so done with this all."

Thad cracked a smile. "I am. But seriously, all-girls? Bad enough being called Elise."

"I mean, you could have been called worse. I like Elise. Thad's better, though." Blaine grinned at him.

"Yeah, at least I could go by Eli."

"Anyway, what's next?" Blaine crunched on popcorn, looking at him intently.

"Well, I figured out why I never liked dresses and stuff." Thad popped some popcorn into his mouth. "I was at a coffee shop that I knew I'd never return to, and my hair was tucked up into hat. The barista said 'here you go it, young lady' and my mouth responded before my brain thought about it."

"What did you say?" Blaine leaned forwards excitedly.

Thad blushed. "I said 'young man, actually,'" he repeated it in the sassy tone he had before and Blaine violently snorted.

"What'd she say?"

"She completely accepted it, apologized, and gave me my drink and called me a young man. With anything else I'd be a complete mess, but something about this felt right. To correct her, to be called a young man."

Blaine nodded. "Ultimate power move, dude. How'd you come out to your parents?"

Thad bit his lip. He didn't realize he'd have to explain that part. "Well... I put it in a note..."

Blaine dropped the popcorn he was holding. "What kind of note?" he asked softly.

"Life was just kinda hard and I didn't fit in with the guys or the girls so they kinda ignored me and I didn't have anyone to talk to and nobody particularly liked me and-"

Blaine cut off his rambling. "Thad, what kind of note?"

Thad sighed, looking at the ground. "A suicide one," he admitted quietly.

Blaine looked at him for a minute, putting out his arms. "Come here."

Thad smiled softly, hugging him.

"You can tell me anything, alright? I promise, I won't act weird or pry. But talk to me if you're ever feeling that way again, okay?"

Thad nodded softly. "Only if you do the same."

"Deal."
