"May I have Wesley Montgomery to the office, please?" a voice said over the PA system.
Wes looked over to Sebastian. "If it's because Nick found out, I'm totally ratting you out," he said, leaving the common room and hearing Sebastian's laugh behind him.
He reached the office all too soon, knocking even though he had been invited.
"Come in," the headmaster said.
He pushed open the door and entered the room. "You asked for me, sir?"
"Ah, Mr. Montgomery. Take a seat," he said, gesturing to the chair across his desk.
Wes did so.
"I received a call today. A foster home in the area has opened and they're willing to take you in."
Wes's heart thrummed in his chest. He didn't want to be thrown into an unknown family. "Sir, with all due respect, isn't there someone else who might need them more than I do? I have Dalton, I technically don't need a place until summer."
He smiled gently. "As you know, spring break is around the corner. There's going to be some construction done on Dalton, so nobody can stay the break."
Wes nodded. "Okay. Thank you, sir."
He dismissed him and Wes walked back to the common room, heart beating like he had run a marathon. He'd never liked spring break, but now he was positively dreading it.
"Wes, what's wrong?"
He sat back down next to David. "There's a foster home for me. And construction's being done here for spring break, so I have to go."
David wrapped his arm around his waist. "You're going to be fine, okay? And you can escape to my house anytime you like."
Wes sighed. "I'm just... I'm scared," he admitted.
"That's perfectly reasonable. But I promise you, you're going to be okay. I'm going to make sure you are."
Smiling softly, Wes rested his head on David's shoulder. He hated admitting he was afraid, having been taught it was a weakness, but David was always quick to tell him his feelings were valid and that it was okay to be scared sometimes.
