"Yeah. Um, what's the point of all this? It's Dalton Academy, we're the freaks who decide slitting our wrists is-"
She cut him off, turning on her slide presentation.
"Yeah, I'd appreciate it if you got the hell out of my classroom, but it's clear you need to see this," she said.He looked shocked. Teachers never swore.
"This is the percentage for the eighth question: Have you tried to kill yourself? See, this red is the people who answered yes. 75% of you guys."
They were all silent.
"I thought I should start with that one."
"This is the statistic of the first one. According to your answers, about a third of you have been hurt 'once or twice' by your parents. That's the green. Another third is hurt to be kept in line; the blue. The purple has been locked in a room or kept from eating as a punishment. About 75% percent of you have been abused by your parents."
"This is how many siblings you all have. Around half with none, and around half with two. Lots of pressure on an only child."
"Wait, who has four siblings?" one of them asked in disbelief.
