"I'd say that went pretty well, didn't it?" Nick asked when they met after the family meetings were over.

"Not for you, it didn't," Sebastian mumbled, getting elbowed by Wes.

"What?" Nick asked, alarmed.

"It's nothing, he's messing around," Wes said, shooting Sebastian a look.

"I'm really not. You know we were helping with the cameras, right?"

Nick nodded, looking confused. "Yeah?"

"We saw your conversation with your brother."

Nick frowned. "I don't understand, he didn't do anything."

Sebastian sighed, counting them off on his fingers as he said them. "He called you a fag, he moved towards you like he was going to hit you, he threatened you, the only reason he didn't hurt you is because you told him about the cameras, and you nearly had a panic attack after he left. Oh, look." He held up his hand. "I'm out of fingers to count what he did on."

Nick paled. "Those have audio?" he half-whispered.

"Yep. And Mrs. Webster saw it too, said she had already been suspicious in the meeting because something seemed off. That's all simple. The question is, why didn't you tell us?" Sebastian's voice softened.

"I– I don't- It's not–"

"Nick," he said firmly.

Like the bursting of a dam, the words rushed out of Nick. "I didn't say anything because I knew he'd get mad at me and I mean it's technically not child abuse so he wouldn't get in trouble or anything it's just normal bullying and my parents certainly wouldn't stop him because they hate me and actually wouldn't care if I died so if I told someone nothing would happen and he'd find out and I'm terrified of what's going to happen now that someone knows because he's going to be so mad at him and he's going to hurt me and I'm absolutely fucked because nobody's stopping him and if my parents find out that someone thinks our family is any less than perfect they might hurt me again too and for once I'm really glad that they don't let me home but I know they will if they find out and I'm– just– fuck." He buried his face in his hands.

Jeff moved closer to Nick, wrapping his arm around him. "Nick, what do you mean they might hurt you again? Have your parents hurt you before?" he asked cautiously.
