One day.

It took one day. Wes had filled in the police on the rest of what happened and his parents were arrested without trial.

The next day, word got out.

He was at breakfast when his phone buzzed, notifying him that an article had been released.

Moving closer to David, he pulled out his phone and began to read it.

MONTGOMERY SCANDAL
You'll wish you never did business with them when you find out the truth about this 'perfect' family.
Just after Christmas, a scandal erupted with this popular business family, known worldwide.
Richard Parkinson, a known business partner of the Montgomery's, recalls being invited to a dinner party Christmas night.
"Their son was unusually quiet, so I decided to engage him in the conversation. Maybe he was just shy, I remembered thinking," Parkinson told me. "I couldn't think of what to say, so I asked if he had a girlfriend. A standard question for a teenage boy. He told me he didn't, but he did have a boyfriend. This surprised me a bit, since his parents never struck me as the most accepting type."
He says he left with the others who had been invited before doubling back, realizing he had dropped his phone.
"I remember thinking about why I didn't get less shallow pockets in my jackets, before I heard someone yelling. I paused, concerned. It was distinctly Carol Montgomery, yelling at someone for being a brat and saying they had embarrassed her. A voice was answering and I figured she was just embarrassed, until I heard the sound of a punch and the person cut off their sentence, crying out in pain."
Parkinson says he hurried from the house, calling for help. He didn't know exactly what was going on, but he was concerned.
Child Protective Services, who arrived there just before midnight, declined comment. Whatever they found inside the house must have been disturbing, considering the Montgomery's went to prison the very next day, charged with child abuse. The question remains, what else didn't we know about them? Will this disgrace only them, or their business parters too?

Wes sighed, handing his phone to David. "Let's hope nobody reads the news."

"I don't want to crush your hope, but have you seen the gossip chain at this school? Everyone's going to find out."

"Yeah, you're right," Wes admitted.

The first sign that people knew about it was a random freshman that walked up to Wes and hugged him. Wes awkwardly stood there, not hugging back.

"Hey, I'd appreciate it if you got off of my boyfriend," David said, irritated. He knew Wes hated hugging people he didn't know; who did?

The boy stopped hugging him. "Sorry! I didn't think about that, of course you don't like being touched. I just found out, I'm so sorry. You're so strong to still have been leading the Warblers while this was going on."

"Um, thank you?"

The boy walked away and Wes looked over at David. "What the hell was that?"

David chuckled. "A freshman that really likes you."
