Almost as soon as they entered the house, they got split up.
Thad found himself in what looked like a living room. The party had been going for a while already, and several people were clearly drunk. Well, almost everyone.
"Hey, cutie."
The words immediately attracted Thad's attention, seeing a girl with her back against a wall, a guy standing in front of her. She looked distinctly uncomfortable.
"You know, you look like you could use a proper man. Want to go som-"
"Oh my god, I was looking for you! It's so easy to get lost in here," Thad interrupted, smiling brightly at the girl.
The guy scowled. "You two know each other?"
"Only for years. How do you two know each other? I don't think I've seen you before, and I'd definitely know. Out of an entire room full of people, I could definitely pick you out." Yeah, I could also pick you out in a police lineup, so get lost.
He moved back. "Just saying hi," he said sourly, leaving.
Thad glared after him. "Sorry about that, he looked like a creep."
He was cut off by the girl hugging him. "Thank you, thank you so much. He's been following me around all night, I was terrified."
"Hey, hey, it's okay," he said soothingly. "If I may, I recommend sticking with someone so you won't be alone."
She stopped hugging him, rubbing her eyes slightly. "I came with my sister and her boyfriend, but I lost them. I don't really know anyone else."
Thad bit his lip. "Okay, this is slightly weird because I'm a stranger, but do you want to stick with me?"
"You wouldn't mind?"
"Of course not. I kinda lost the people I came with, too."
"Thank you so, so much."
