She fell asleep an hour later, having not spoken a word. We'd stopped to get tissues for her nose and paracetamol, as I was sure she'd have a headache. My heart was still pounding. I couldn't believe I'd found her. I couldn't believe I'd rescued her. The adrenaline was pumping in my veins.
When we arrived home she was still sleeping. I didn't want to wake her. I lifted her up from the car and she cuddled into me. Once inside the apartment I took her straight to bed and lay her down. I watched over her sleeping so peacefully, holding her hand. I would never let her go again.
