Chapter 42 The "thing"

Kendra's P.O.V.

"mornin'!" Emma smiled as she wheeled into the kitchen. "mornin'!" i smiled back

It was nice to see her smile. she had such a beautiful smile! i never realized how much i missed it until she did smile.

"How are you?!" i asked as she parked in front of the table. "good" she said happily as i placed some toast in front of her "good sleep?!" i asked turning back to the counter. "mhm" she said shoving the bread in her mouth.

I smiled at her and then walked over to the stairs.

"BOYS! GET UP HERE!" i screamed and then walked back over to the counter and put two pieces of bread in the toaster.

"Have you talked to the girls yet?!" i asked pouring some coffee for The both of us. "yup" she said popping the "P"

"how are they?!" i questioned placing a mug in front of Em. "Good...they miss Louis already" she explained eating some more of her toast. "Hows Aria?!" i asked a bit worried about her. Emma sighed

There was a moment of silence

"confused" she said reaching for her coffee. i sighed

"That god damn bastard" i whispered "what?!" Emma laughed "oops...did i say that out loud?!" i laughed

Soon the whole kitchen was filled with laughter.

Once we calmed down i dazed off in thought.

"Mom" Emma said, snapping me out of the trance. "hmm" i said lifting my head to look at her "whats wrong?!" she asked worried

My mouth slightly dropped opened and my eyes scanned the room for excuses. Unfortunately my planed failed and i was stuck starring down at the table.

"Mom...it's ok...you can tell me" Emma said forcing me to lift my head.

I sighed and licked my lips trying to stall. i look around the room again for excuses but once again failed.

"He..." i started and then stopped, trying to think of words to say "Harry...he..." i continued, looking down at the table "uh..." i stalled "He...kissed..." I hesitated "Michelle" i said slowly.

Emma's eyes widened and her mouth dropped opened

"And...me" i continued "while he was engaged to Amber" i explained and Em's eyes got even bigger.

She sighed and sat back in her chair.

Jut then the boys ran upstairs.

"Mornin' mum!" Luke said sitting down at the table "yah! mornin' mum" Henry copied

"Don't repeat me!" Luke yelled. Henry just stuck his tongue out at his older brother.

"Boys!" i yelled trying to sound serious but it was hard since Henry was so dang cute and i wanted to laugh despite the conversation i just had with Emma.

I stood up and walked over to the counter, buttered their toast and put some jam on the slices while they bickered back and forth

"Here" i said sliding the plates in front of them "thanks mum" they said at the same time.

They both shot their heads at each other and glared.

I laughed a bit and then tapped Luke's plate "eat" i said as i did so.

Emma was silent the whole time "i'm gonna go get my stiff ready" she said wheeling out of the kitchen not even looking at me.

Damn it! i shouldn't have said anything!

I was sitting on the couch chatting with Michelle as we sipped on some coffee. it was around 6:00 so Emma would be home from work any minute.

6:15 rolled around and Emma still wasn't home. i payed no thought to it thinking she was just stuck in traffic or had to work later

6:30 came and went and still no Emma. ok...i'm getting a little worried

6:45 no Emma...worrying

7:00....panicking!

It was 7:30 when Emma wheeled into the house. an hour and a half late!

"WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN?!" I screamed, jumping up off the couch

Emma glance over at the couch, saw Michelle, huffed and wheeled towards the hall way

"EMMA LILLIAN SMITH! ANSWER ME RIGHT NOW!" i yelled after her.

She completely ignored me and rolled down the hall way

"EMMA!" I yelled after her

I knew exactly why she wasn't answering me. she felt uncomfortable around Michelle and I because of the "thing".

"Whats wrong with Em" Chell asked worried "uhhh" i said trying to find away to tell her "Kendraaa" Michelle said almost scared "i...uh...might have...uh...told her about the...thing" i said slowly

Michelle's face went blank "you didn't" she said in disbelief.

"You promised you wouldn't tell anyone!" she yelled

"Michelle i can't keep it anymore! this isn't right and you know it!" i said taking a few steps towards her

"i can't tell him" she said in deep thought "why not-" she cut me off "BECAUSE IT WOULD RUIN EVERYTHING!" she screamed jumping to her feet! i took a step back afraid she might launch herself at me.

There was a moment of silence

"It would ruin everything" she whispered

"Chell-" she cut me off again "it would ruin every thing!" she yelled again as if i never her head her the fist time.

"The boys friendship...the band...our marriage...my reputation...god knows what'll happen with Lilly" she said holding back her tears.

"Michelle...your marriage is ruined weather you tell him or not...because he will find out...can you just be the one to tell him" i said quietly

She sighed and her tears spilled over

"Please don't tell him" she cried looking up at me. i sighed and thought for a moment "i...i can't keep that promise anymore" i said slowly

She just cried some more and sat on the couch

"Please" she cried some more looking down at her lap. i just stood in silence

"I think you should go" i said after a few moments of dead still air and the sound of Michelle sobbing.

She looked up at me and her hurt sad face turned into a face of hatred and discuss.

She wiped her tears dry and stormed out of the house.

Once she left it was like the weight was lifted off my shoulders and i could breath again.

I collapsed on the couch and cried

I can't believe i just said that to my best friend!
