After we exited the office that we left my aunt in, I rose my hand to the back of my head, scratching it as I sighed.
"I'm so sorry for my aunt back there." I said to Stiles, breaking the silence as we all continued down the hallway with such a monotone color scheme. "If I knew she was going to practically sign you up for a death sentence, I wasn't gonna point out those lines to her." I frowned, quickly pointing to the tendrils on Stiles' neck.
Somehow, I'm not surprised her final resort was tied to death. She was an emissary to an alpha pack whose first instinct was to kill, but I wouldn't think she would adapt to those actions.
I actually feel kind of betrayed as well. She has known Stiles for ages and it took only this to show that she's so quick to eliminate? But like she said, she's only "maintaining the balance".
"Eh, I guess you don't have to apologize about her. You guys have totally different motives, and that's what matters." Stiles said to me, pulling me to his side for a quick hug. When Ava, Stiles and I banked the corner, the two of them simultaneously slowed their pace which then caused me to weirdly look at them.
"What's wrong?" I questioned. I then followed their eyes, noticing that they were staring at the single door that was located at the end of the hallway. Ava said that it was three of us in the basement she saw, maybe this is the door that leads to it. "Come on." I urged the the pair as Ava nodded while Stiles headed towards the door first.
He placed his hand on the knob, turning it to only find out that it was locked. Stiles' hand kept on twisting the knob with Ava who was pushing it, both of them trying to open the door that didn't bother budging.
I sighed as I stopped them. "Watch out." I nodded as I then positioned myself in front of the door, raising my hand up slowly. "Phasmat-"
"What are you doing?" A voice sounded through the hallway, leaving the three of us to pitch out of our skins. We quickly turned around to see that it was only Oliver, one of the members from the session with Aunt Marin earlier. I did not hear one footstep that could have announced his arrival, which even weirded me out more.
Stiles fully faced Oliver. "I need to get through here. To the basement." He spoke, nodding towards the door.
"Doctors don't even have a key to this door. Only Brunski." Oliver informed as Stiles whipped his head around.
Once I heard Ava's sigh, I shook my head. "Brunski? Who's Brunski?" I questioned, trying to understand what all the glum faces were about.
"He's the head orderly. He's got the keys to everything in here." Oliver spoke. I moved towards Oliver, scanning him closely. I do wonder why he is in here, he literally seems fine- other than him creeping up on us. And the fact that he knows all this information about Brunski, he's probably been here for a while.
"Well, does he keep them on him at all times?" I questioned. If Brunski leaves the key in his office, I could quickly whip up a cloaking spell and simply maneuver my way into his office. But by the way Oliver's facial expression contorted, I have a feeling it won't be that easy.
"If you want them, you'll probably have to figure a way to trick him." Oliver pointed out.
Stiles looked back at Ava and I before he turned his attention back to the tall brunette. "Well, part of me is getting very good at playing tricks." Stiles lastly said before walking off. I stared at Oliver one last time before both Ava and I walked off behind Stiles.
I know that I could've easily opened the door with magic, I'm glad that I didn't. Partly because there are cameras everywhere and the fact that I opened the door without actually touching it would raise eyebrows, but it's mainly because I don't want to see what's down there. While my mind should be focused on trying to get that door open without magic, there is one question that is now occupying my mind.
