Stiles was following us closely behind as we made our way to the Hale House. I noticed a few worried looks getting sent over to me by Scott. The last time the both of us were together at the Hale House, it wasn't the most heart-warming moment, but the night wasn't hard to bare. I sighed out slowly as I closed my eyes shortly, thinking about Derek.
"He doesn't remember the fire, Scott." I sadly let out, now staring out of the window as we drove down the sun-splotched road, watching a police cruiser speed pass us. "What am I supposed to do? Tell him that our whole family is dead?" I questioned as I finally looked over to Scott. His eyes were focused on the road but it was apparent that he was in deep thought.
"I guess we're going to have to." Scott spoke as my eyes widened slightly.
"Yeah? We're going to need some serious luck with that."
"I can't lie to him." He replied, looking over at me shortly before he turned through the preserve.
"Okay, I'll do it." I impulsively fired back. It only took one look from Scott for him to get me to actually think about the decision I made on the spot. "Okay, okay."
"I don't think any of us can. Remember, he can hear a heartbeat rising." He pitched in yet again.
I brought my nails up to my mouth, chewing them slightly. "I can't lie to him, Scott." I let out after some time of contemplation. "Family is a really huge thing and I know how it feels to be kept in the dark about the truth of your family. But I'm afraid that he'll bug out like he did at the animal clinic." I sadly voiced, looking over to my boyfriend who's eyes were contorted in confusion.
"Carson..." His voice trailed off as I then furrowed my eyebrows, looking out of the windshield.
"No." I breathed out in disbelief, fumbling with the door of the car as I exited it. "No!" I yelled as I then ran towards the site.
Where my family's house and my safe haven used to be, there was now a vast pile of wood and broken down rubble scattered all over the floor. I looked up to see piece of the fence already torn off, leaving me to hop through it as I neared the house, blatantly ignoring the no trespassing sign.
"Holy..." Stiles trailed off as he finally got out of his jeep, moving through the fence behind Scott.
My sight then got blurred with tears once I held pieces of the wood into my hand, angrily throwing them back down. "What the hell happened? Why would they do this?" I silently questioned, descending down onto my knees.
"Well, nobody's been here for years. Nobody could've known that you were coming to a burnt building." I heard Scott softly spoke as he made his way next to me, crouching down beside me. "I'm so sorry, Carson." He added as I felt his arms snake around me. I then laid my head onto his chest as my tear-filled eyes scanned the place, still in total disbelief. Every time I manage to move forward, there's something always there to try and set me back.
Both Scott and I stood up as I wiped away my tears before they spilled over anymore. Stiles then appeared next to us as he looked over to me with sad eyes. "You used to come here for your full moons, didn't you?" He questioned as I frowned deeply.
