Prison had never felt so empty.

Of course it was especially since there was literally no one in it. It was activity day and all the inmates were out in the fields doing all the hard labor. She'd have probably been out there trimming her own share of the long lawn if not that the prison wardens actually thought it'd be nice and considerate to give her enough time to mourn her daughter and feel sorry for herself.

It had been three days, three days since her baby was taken from her and life had never felt so miserable, prison life. She was so miserable. Three days since she had not eaten or drank anything, three days of feeling nothing but numb and emptiness.

Olivia turned to the other side of her bed as a drop of tear fell from her eyes. She wanted to scream out loud, to yell but all the energy in her had left her. How did everything fall apart? how did her life fall apart so quickly? How was she not able to even protect her own daughter? They didn't even let her see her one time. She shut her eyes for a second the moment she heard some footsteps approaching the hallway.

It got louder as she heard the ladies chuckle while they found their way towards the room. She didn't care to know who it was. A couple of inmates chattering about something that wasn't her business wasn't something she was going to disturb herself with. She could feel her temperature rising from inside her skin. She could feel the heat that filled her insides. She was sick, she was cold and tired. She slowly wrapped her arms in between her thighs, trying not to make a sound so she didn't have to get any of their attention.

Too bad, she was the reason they were there anyway.

"Hey!" She heard someone call her loudly "Husband killer, you no go come join us for field?"

Olivia didn't move. She didn't make a sound. She knew she didn't have to. She just needed the pain she felt to stop. She was sick of it, she was sick of all of it. She could hear the ladies chuckle softly behind her.

"See how she de do like say she be the only one weh don born for prison before."

She knew this lady that spoke wasn't the same with the first. It was harder, her voice was harder. How many were they anyway?

"You no de hear us so?"
Olivia didn't move a muscle. She wasn't really in the mood. She didn't want to open her eyes either because she was scared the amount of pain and tears that were going to flow from them plus she was cold. She was so cold. She could hear one of them scoff.

"This girl really doesn't know who we are oo, copper."

"It's how these ex celebrities are, when they find themselves in prison they begin to think they are still out there, like they are better than the rest of us in here."

"Ohhm, why are we doing like this na?" She could hear another one complain "How we go de let this small pikin wash us like this? So a whole me, Anita, go de cut grass, this one weh use her husband do blood money go de here de sleep? Make we show am who get this prison na?"

"Oh girl!" Now one of them was tapping her on her shoulder. No it was more than a tap, more like a pull, trying to get her to turn towards them. Olivia wasn't even sure she was in control of her body anymore. She wasn't sure she was in her body anymore. She let them pull her effortlessly till she was right where they wanted her, glaring at the top of her bunk bed, muttering some words to herself, words they were trying to hear.

"Omo this girl dey whine us o." One of them said to the rest in a rather high pitch.

"See let's leave this girl na." Another one said. "Shey the warden gave her a one week rest? can't you guys see she's not in her right mind at the moment?"

"Oya shut up," another lady reprimanded her. "If you no wan stay here, commot."

Olivia held on tight to her jumpsuit. She could feel one of them walk closer to her.

"We are talking to you." She slapped her hard on her arms several times. "Stand up and join us in the field. Come and cut grass now!"

Olivia slowly turned back to her other side. She was barely listening to whatever was going on.
She just didn't care

The lady scoffed as she turned around to face the rest in embarrassment. She was so furious. Olivia couldn't hear them but she was almost sure they were whispering some words to each other. Whatever it was they were planning, she really didn't want to be a part of it.

"Come here."

A hand grabbed hers immediately and the next thing she knew, she was on the floor with her eyes wide open looking at the women that rounded themselves in a circle around her. She could count about six of them and they didn't have a single smile on their faces. Olivia exhaled. Why wouldn't they just leave her alone? She tried to sit straight when she felt a hard kick on her belly, and then another straight to her leg.

"You think you're stubborn abi." She could hear the first Lady tell her. "We'd show you who runs this prison.

And there it was, another kick right on her leg and another on her back. They were kicking her so hard and no matter how much she tried to protect herself, she couldn't protect every part of her body.

Now her legs were all they were focused on. They were kicking her so hardly with all their energy and boots.

Olivia could have sworn she could feel blood finding it's way to her tongue. She was really hurt and exhausted. They were killing her and what was worst was that they seemed to be enjoying it. Each time she tried to save herself, each time she tried to get up, they threw a kick at her that made her lose her balance and sent her right back to the ground till she had no energy left to keep trying.

She couldn't move. She couldn't feel her legs.
Her both legs were sore and numb and there it was, a whole lot of blood she had coughed out right before everything became so blurry. She could barely see the bed in one place. She was going to faint, she knew that or what was worse, they were going to kill her.

She didn't care anyway. She knew she had nothing to lose. She had lost everything else already. She wanted them to do it, she hoped they would. She wasn't going to fight it.

Olivia shut her eyes, waiting for her last breath. It was getting really quiet, really cold. Her breath was getting really short.

"Hey!" She heard someone yell followed by the loud sound of a whistle. "Get away from her!"

Olivia drew her last breath at the sound of Kemi's shaky voice as she charged towards them with her baton.
Saved by the bell.
She could see the policewoman hurrying to help her till she could no longer hear her.

Olivia shut her eyes just as the ladies took off immediately before anything else. She was done, it was over. She watched the policewoman hurry to her. Everything else was a blur, nothing felt real anymore. She drew a soft breath.

She was tired.
