~the first few chapters are a little long as it's setting the story, they get shorter as the story goes on!~
*mid February*
Kaitlyns povAs I turn off the water I see a nose poke it's way around the door as my uncles golden retriever enters the bathroom. I close the door as I step out and wrap my towel around me.
"If you can't leave me alone for ten minutes Larson, how are you going to react once I leave in a few weeks?"
He starts to whimper and whine as I bend down to his level and scratch his head.
"I know bud, I'm gonna miss you too. But you had me here for four years! We both knew when this was ending."
He whines again,
"Okay yes I am leaving six months earlier, but it's not my fault I had enough credits to graduate early."
He lays down and rests his head at my feet. We had been through a lot these four years I'd been in California for college. Him and my uncle were the only ones that never left my side. Well, and Hailie, and a few others. Hailie became my best friend in high school and I met everyone else here in California.
I change and walk into my room. I really needed to start packing my things if I was going to be gone in six weeks, that gave me until the end/middle of March give or take. It was just nearing the middle of February now. I didn't need to be gone so soon, uncle Clint didn't want me to leave just as much as I didn't want to go. But I had my own life to start now. My room was a mess, nonetheless to say. So I started cleaning.
Larson sat on my bed the whole time and watched me. If I left he followed me, it was like his eyes could never leave me. Uncle Clint soon appeared at my door and just leaned against the frame and watched me. He slowly made his way over to my bed and sat next to Larson. I knew what he was doing, and I didn't need to ask. But my obnoxious self still did,
"What are you doing?"
He sighed,
"Oh you know, taking everything in before you leave. Just spending time with you."
I set my shirt in my drawer and move the laundry basket aside so I can sit down in between both of them.
"You still got me for a few weeks, you'll see me all the time trust me."
"Yeah I know. But you know."
"Yeah I know."
I pull them into a side hug,
"I'm gonna miss you guys."
"Us too."
We sit there like that for a little bit until I force myself to get up. I walk over to my dresser to put clothes away and secretly wipe my tears. I was no where near leaving and I didn't want to go already.
"No we can't do that yet. I'm still here for a bit. Happy things only!"
Uncle Clint stands up nodding in agreement.
"Yes yes totally. Say, how was your date last night?"
I grit my teeth. To be honest, it wasn't that great. But, what date ever goes well for me?
"Hey! I have an idea, why don't we go on one of our uncle-niece Apps dates?"
He crosses his arms,
"Are you trying to get out of the question?
I click my tongue and tilt my head in confusion,
"Um, what uh question did you ask I didn't hear it?"
