Chapter 69

*the next morning*
Kaitlyns pov

I woke up with Millie staring at me. I had to stifle a laugh so I wouldn't wake Jacob even though I knew he was probably up.

"Hey girly." I whispered as I scratched her head. She laid down and cuddled into my arm.

Jacob moved closer and wrapped his arms around me. I leaned back and rested my head under his chin. I'll admit, it did feel nice being held by him. But, I wasn't fully there being held by him.

"This is gonna slightly sting and I'm sorry but, since you don't have a game seven tonight when do you have to leave?" He asked as I laughed.

"Well thanks for that, but whenever I guess. Definitely early afternoon."

"So I can cook breakfast for you?"

"That would be nice."

I left a little after one and drove back to Cody's. I never told either of them I was leaving. Neither of them texted me asking either. Cody's car was gone when I got back. I walked inside and was about to head upstairs when Corey walked out of the kitchen.

"Hey Corey how,"

"Where were you last night?" Corey asked me.

"At a friends. They were watching the game and asked if I wanted to come over after. We were drinking so I stayed the night."

"Were you with Jacob?"

Where did he get that?

"No and why would it matter if I was."

"Why are you doing this to yourself Kaitlyn."

Did he know?

"I'm not doing anything what are you talking about."

"I know you keep seeing him. If you wanna get over him you have to stop seeing him."

"I wasn't with him Corey."

"Yes you were otherwise you would've told us where you were going."

"Why does it matter."

"Why are you lying to me Kaitlyn just say you were with him."

"Why does it matter Corey?" My voice got more stern. He was pissing me off. So what if I was with him? We weren't together why did it concern him?

"Because if you stop seeing him then we can finally get back together."

There it was.

"Maybe I don't want to get back together!"

"What? Kaitlyn it's us."

"So? I don't want to be with you."

"But we can be us again. We're finally in the same city again."

"No Corey."

"Kaitlyn c'mon,"

"No Corey! I don't want you! I don't even know what the hell I want but I know I don't want us. I want Jacob." At least, I thought I did.

"But he doesn't want you. I do."

"I don't care. And yes he does. You don't know the full story so don't even try." But did he? He is the one who broke us up. But he's also the one who asked me to come over. Ugh.

"You don't get it do you."

"There's nothing to get Corey so just stop. I was the one in the relationship, not you. It's my life and I can do whatever the fuck I want with whoever I want. And you know what I'm gonna do whatever I want. I signed my lease last week already after I saw the place with Walker and Kenzie and I can move in whenever I want to. And you know what? I am!"
