*the next day*
Kaitlyns povI walked into my office and turned on the light.
"What the hell." My office had balloons, flowers, cupcakes and a 'congrats' banner hanging.
"SURPRISE!" I turned around and Cody, Corey, Gavin, Will, Walker and Kiké stood there smiling.
"Awe you guys did this?"
"Yeah we had to do something for you. This is a big thing for us, for you. You're leaving the Brewers and coming to work here for us." Walker said.
"Hm yeah I guess. Well thank you I love it."
They all hugged me and left.
"You got a sec?" Cody said as he shut the door.
"Uh yeah."
"So what's gonna happen with you and Jacob."
I wish I knew.
"Well I think we wanna stay together. So that's the plan as of now I guess. We don't know what's gonna happen of course but."
"You guys wanna try to make it work that's all that matters."
"Yeah."
"You're scared aren't you?"
"Yeah I mean I guess."
"You guess?"
"A lots going on right now Cody I don't really know if I'm being honest."
"Alright well if you need something you know where I am. I gotta go. See you out there champ." He hugged me and left.
I knew I had Cody to go to when I needed anything. But right now I didn't even know what I was feeling completely.
During bp none of the guys left me alone. They were all goofing around like the old days with me. Cracking jokes and all. I couldn't wait for this all the time now.
~
The game started and it was loud. Louder than last years NLDS. Of course there was more blue for the Dodgers than red for the Cardinals, but there was a decent amount of fans here.
For an NLDS game it was, boring. The score stayed shut out for both sides the entire game. They got hits going but no one could get anyone home.
It was now the bottom of the ninth inning. We could walk it off and go home, or not and send it into extras. Cody was leading off, so we had a chance to bring it home. He had a zero two count but Dodgers Stadium was on their feet.
"C'mon Cody do something." I whispered.
"He only had one walkoff this season." Steve, my new but old cameraman said.
"I know it's,"
~CRACK~
"FLY OUT DAMNIT, YEAH!"
The Dodgers jumped over the rail and piled on him at home plate. The fans were nuts. Cody was interviewed by TBS first, and it went fairly quick, he said like four words I felt like and then came walking over to me.
"You ready?" I asked. He had a big smile on his face.
"Yeah let's do it." The light went on and we were live.
"Cody, you had one walk off win the whole season and now in the first game of the division series after a scoreless game for both sides you hit a walk off home run. Take us through the game, what was going through your head there?"
"Yeah you know it was a good fight for both sides. We both put up a really good fight tonight and when it was getting down to it we were all just trying to make contact with the ball and get something good going."
"As the chants of MVP reign down on you, how good did it feel to pull through for the guys?"
"Incredible. The fans are amazing. We put up a great fight this year and hopefully we can get that trophy here."
"Alright thanks Cody."
"I'm sorry but I have to do this."
"What," Just as he wrapped his arms around me I felt the cold water go down my back.
"I HATE YOU GUYS."
Gavin and Kiké stood there with the empty bucket laughing.
"Welcome back!" They both yelled.
"They made me get in on it I'm sorry." Cody said.
"It's fine." I said running a hand through my hair.
That would be all over highlights for us.
~
I was sitting in my office and just as I finished typing my last report Cody walked in.
"Dry off yet?"
"Yes. I was freezing forever. Now I know the pain of it."
"Told you, it's cold as all hell."
"Yeah but Gatorade is worse." Jacob said as he walked in.
"JACOB!" I pushed past Cody and jumped into his arms.
"Hey beautiful." He said just before he kissed me.
"I didn't think you were coming."
"And not support my girlfriend and friends? Never. Sup Cody, good game."
"Thanks man. I'll catch you later Kaitlyn, I'll let you guys be alone." He hugged me and left.
"How did today go?" He asked as I started packing my stuff.
"Really good. It was like I never left even though I technically didn't work for them. Everyone's really happy to have me around. Everyone was being their goofy self with me again. I missed them."
"Awe well that's good. I'm glad it went well."
"Yeah me too just minus the whole water thing. I'm freezing now."
"So we should get you back to the hotel and in that hot shower huh?" He leaned on his hands on my desk.
"Sounds like a good idea to me." I said just as I closed the small gap between us with a kiss.
I slung my bag over my shoulder and grabbed his hand and led us down the hall.
"See you tomorrow Kaitlyn!" Will said as we walked past him.
"Bye Will!"
Jacob slid his arm around my waist as we walked out. I was gonna miss him.
