*the next day*
Kaitlyns pov

I felt empty and alone sitting at my island watching the movers bring everything in.

Belli🤪: Hey what number are you? I don't know which button to press when I get in
Me: It's 2222 but the doors are open for the movers right now so just walk in

Cody was coming to help unpack all my boxes and move things around. I didn't want to do anything today anymore. But we already made a deal he'd come help.

"I bring coffee!" He said walking in.

"Thank you."

"Mhmmmm." He sat next to me. "So, twenty two twenty two huh?"

"I know what you're thinking. I didn't chose it because it's his number, it's what they had open and I liked the place. Floor twenty two apartment twenty two."

"It's still funny."

"Yeah. Sure is." I found it funny before, with it being Christians number and all. But now I was just sad.

"So what did you, Walker and Kenzie do last night?"

Shit.

"Oh uh we just had dinner and talked. Played a couple board games. Walker and I talked."

"About what?" He asked just as the movers came back from the bedroom.

"Okay miss we're all done. You might want to give the mattresses a day to air out from being in the plastic but everything else is set."

"Alright thank you guys so much."

"You're very welcome have a nice day."

"Thank you, you too." I followed them to the door and shut it. "Alright so I have the boxes in each room where they belong. We can,"

"You didn't answer my question about what you and Walker talked about."

"Uh we just talked. Caught up. That stuff."

"Kaitlyn I know you're hiding something your voice and body language have been different." I walked over to the window and looked out.

"I told him about me and Corey. I originally said I was there cause it was closer for furniture delivery but he knew I was lying. When Kenzie went to shower he pulled me outside and we talked. And then we talked about Jacob."

"You went to his place didn't you."

"After Walker and I talked yeah. He told me to. So I did. I spent the night and," My eyes filled with tears as I remembered this morning.

"What happened." Cody said placing a hand on my back. I couldn't hold it in anymore and just cried. "You can tell me it's okay. I'm not gonna judge you."

"We broke up. Like officially. I said how I didn't want to ruin what we had left with some friends with benefits thing. So I said no more seeing each other unless it's for work or we run into each other on the street. We're done." Cody hugged me.

"I'm sorry Kaitlyn."

"Can I be honest."

"Always."

"I know we were only together for two months but, I kind of felt like maybe he was the one. Kind of. I know you won't want to hear this but, I definitely felt that way with Christian. Something told me he was the one, but then I thought it with Jacob too."

"Maybe somewhere down the road it'll work out."

"At this point I don't know. Hell I don't know what I'm feeling half the time anyways."

I unpacked the kitchen and Cody unpacked my bedroom and laid my clothes everywhere for me. We tag teamed putting my clothes away and unpacking my office and the living room. It was close to dinner so we called for Chinese as we unpacked the guest room. Most of those boxes were miscellaneous or pictures. I decided to open the picture one so I could start decorating. I was met with a note.

Hey hun. I packed this one carefully and it was one of the first done. I opened it back up after the NLDS and added a picture I framed. Then a week later you told me about you and Jacob and I reopened it to put this note in it. The picture I added was of you and Jacob in the locker room after you guys won the NLDS. It was too cute not to frame. I know you broke up, and I'm so heartbroken for you, but I still left it in here. You can do what you want with it, but I thought I'd let you know. I also left the pictures of you and Christian in here as well even though I didn't want to. Remember you can always call me no matter what it is, I'm here for you. Let me know when it's all set up so I can buy a plane ticket and get my ass out there! I miss you already but you deserve this. I love you Kaitlyn. ~ Hailie

I took out the pictures and laid them around. I picked up the NLDS one she just framed. It was one someone got of us hugging with Cody pouring champagne over us. There was a picture of Christian and I from the first day of spring training. There was another of us with Ryan's kids. Another was him giving me a piggyback ride around PNC Park. One was us playing ping pong. The last one in the box was when he signed the contract. I looked happy in all of our pictures, but I was happiest in that one. We both were. You could how in love we were, even though we hadn't said it yet. Teardrops fell on the glass as I held it. I couldn't believe I was saying it, but I think I missed him.

"Hey where do you want, awe champ."

He knelt next to me as he looked at the picture.

"You still have those?." He asked.

"I still have a lot from him believe it or not."

We stayed quiet as I sat there and looked at the pictures before I put them back in the box. I'd hang these later. We finished the rest of the boxes and then ate dinner and just talked.

"Alright champ I'm gonna go. You remember to take care of yourself please. Call me if you need something alright?"

"I will Cody. Thank you."

"Always." We hugged and he left.

I turned around and looked out at the city. I still couldn't believe I was living here and working for the Dodgers. I just wish someone was here with me too.
