*a week later*

The light on the camera went off and Kaitlyn handed me a towel.

"You're about to start shivering, here." We walk down the dugout steps and into the hall.

"The ice goes right to your bones it's awful. Hella fun but damn is it cold."

"Yeah I bet." She stops me and gives me a kiss on the cheek. "I don't know how you do it but I love watching you do it everyday." I smile, kiss her forehead and squeeze her hand.

"I'll see you later." She walks off to Couns' office and I go shower before I get swarmed.

I run my hands through my hair just as I hear someone clear their throat behind me. I turn and see Tom and Adam and everyone else.

"You ready?" Tom asks.

"Yeah hang on." I stick my hand between them and grab Kaitlyns wrist.

"She's tiny y'all gotta look out for her." Her face turned red.

"Alright now go ahead."

"The seasons been going for six days, the team has won five of those games and you alone have walked off three of those games. How do you feel?" She asks before anyone can say a word.

"Honestly as cheesy as it sounds it's a lot of fun. Playing with the guys is fun. We all have the same goal of just going out there to win and play the best of our abilities. And we do."

"How do you keep doing it?" Tom asks.

"Honestly I don't know." Everyone laughs. "I just go out there to play and obviously to win but uh I really don't know. I just stay in that headspace until the game is over."

"Do you think it has anything to do with the contract extension?"

"I wouldn't say so. Maybe there's something in my head that's like you get to play here the rest of your career and it lit something but I don't think so. I'd say it's a team effort for what happens. I wouldn't have been able to walk it off tonight if Ben and Lo didn't get on base."

"Would you say you feed off of what happens before your at bat?" Kaitlyn asks me.

"Uh yeah I think it depends honestly. Like today it definitely did. But if no ones on and it's two out it's a different thought process. Just like if it's tied and there's two outs I have a different approach. It all just depends on what's going on."

"Thanks Christian."

"Yup."

They all walk away and I grab my stuff to go change for the flight. Kaitlyns running, literally, around getting different guys and doing a thousand things. I could've went to the bus right away and sat there, but I waited for Kaitlyn in her office. She grunted as she walked in and started putting her work bag back together.

"Yeah?"

"I need a nap." She changed into flats.

"Well you can nap on my shoulder."

"Can I even sit by you?"

"Yeah you can sit wherever. I also just signed a seven year extension, so they have to listen to me." She chuckled as she turned around.

"Let's go."

We load the buses and drive to the airport. I was excited, this was her first away series as an official reporter. She follows me up the plane and to our seats. I always sat in the back with Ryan and whoever else. Ryan was already there at the window seat. Kaitlyn sat between us.

We took off and she leaned her head on me. I snaked my arm under hers and took her hand and kissed her head.

"PSSSSST HEY!" Jacob whispered peering from behind us. "I have a questiooooonnnn."

"Jacob I will kill you." Kaitlyn said.

"It's two seconds." She sat up and turned around. "Do you wanna play Mario Kart?" He asked.

"Mario Kart?"

"Yes."

"On what."

He bent down and back up holding his Nintendo Switch.

"Oh my god." Kaitlyn, Ryan and I said at the same time.

"I know I'm a nerd."

Kaitlyn bent down and opened her bag.

"Oh my god." I said as I watched her pull out a Switch. She turned around and held it up.

"Mines teal!"

"YES!"

"What happened to your nap?" I asked her.

"Mario Kart happened."

I laughed, "You're cute."

"Thank you, now I have a race to win."

They played a couple rounds and I watched. I tried to sleep but it was more exciting watching them. I did end up dosing off towards the end. They eventually put the game away and I felt Kaitlyn snuggle back up against me. I opened my eyes and her arms were crossed over her chest. She was cold. I reached down in my bag and pulled out a hoodie and placed it over her. She sat up and put the hoodie on instead and then leaned back against me. I kissed her forehead and smiled.

"I love you." She kissed my shoulder and wrapped her arm around mine.

"I love you too."

Out of the corner of my eye I saw Ryan look at us. I looked at him and smiled. He smiled and nodded his head. I leaned my head on hers and we both slept until we landed.
