*next day*
Jacobs povDinner last night was amazing. We all had so much fun and made so many last memories with her. We all even got along with Christian.
We were leaving in a few minutes for the airport. Our flight left at eleven. Kaitlyn has been a mess all morning. She was only going to be more of a mess when we got there. But Cody was getting us from the airport, so she had that to look forward to. He thought we were coming out for the games. They still didn't know she got the job. Kaitlyn walked out of the bathroom.
"Okay. I'm ready."
"Okay babe. Let's go."
She never once let go of my hand until we got to airport. We checked our bags and headed towards security. And there they all stood.
"Oh my god no way." I heard her whisper.
Last night once we got back to the hotel, while Kaitlyn was showering I went around and talked with everyone and asked who could make it before the flight to see her one last time. Ryan, Yaz, Moose, Tyrone, Counsell and even Christian said they could all make it. And they did. Ryan, Yaz, and Moose all flew their families out here for the last game, so they came too.
"You guys." She said as we walked up.
"We had to see you one last time and give you a big send off." Couns said as he hugged her.
"Thank you for everything Craig. I loved being able to work for my hometown team. I'm never going to forget it. Even when we butted heads."
"Hey you got me to bring up a pretty damn good catcher. I owe you that."
"Take care of yourself alright?" She said.
"You too. We're always here."
She spent time with everyone. She talked with each person as long as she could. That's why I wanted us here so early, because I knew about this. I knew how long it would take.
She had talked with everybody but Christian and the Braun's. I don't even think she knew what to say to Christian. She probably didn't think he'd be here. I didn't. I was surprised when he said he'd come. Moose and his family came over and joined us where we stood. It was Christians turn now.
They stood there and hugged and talked for a while. He walked away and came over and joined us.
"Hey man thank you for coming I know," he cut me off and hugged me.
"Take care of her man alright?"
"I will."
"Don't do what I did. I was stupid and I lost her. I hate myself everyday for it. But if there's one guy I want her with it's you, cause I know you're a good guy and you love her and you'll take care of her. That's what she deserves. That's all I ever wanted for her. I just want her to be happy."
"I will."
Kaitlyns pov
I didn't expect Christian to be here honestly. We just looked at each other as Moose and his family walked away. He walked over and I wrapped my arms around him. Over his shoulder I could see Ryan looking at us. I closed my eyes and leaned my forehead against his shoulder.
"Thank you for coming. I know you didn't have to but you did and I appreciate it."
"You're welcome. I know we haven't gotten along in a long time, but I really do wish you the best Kaitlyn. You deserve this. You deserve to reach your dreams and be happy."
"Thank you Christian."
"I know this won't change anything but I'm still saying it because I need to. I was stupid. I was wrong. I messed up. I made a fucked up mistake when I shouldn't have and I broke everyone's trust. More importantly I broke you. I'm sorry. I truly am. I shouldn't have done that and I'm always gonna be mad at myself for it because I lost you. But you're happy now and that's what's important. That's all I ever wanted for you. That's all I do want for you. And I know maybe not now but at some point, I'd love it if we could be friends. I wanna work on that because I miss having you in my life. I know I'll never get you back fully and I don't expect to. But I really do want to be friends with you, whenever you're ready."
