*a few days later*
Kaitlyns povI used to love the Miami series' because it was always fun watching Christian dominate his old team. But now I wanted him to go back.
Jacob was starting today and I didn't want him to. He's been in his head way too much lately and it's not good for him. Sure he hit the grand slam to end the Cardinals series and the walkoff double to start the Cubs series and started to get out of his slump, but he fell right back in after the first Cubs game.
"Hey." I said walking up behind him. He was alone in the clubhouse, facing his locker.
"Hey." His voice was always this upbeat and happy tone. But recently it's been this down and upset tone. He hasn't been himself. I feel like it's been ever since Christian and I got into that screaming match on Friday. And after he punched him, again.
"Are you okay? You haven't been yourself."
"Yeah I'm just tired."
"Are you sure."
"Yeah."
"Well, you know I'll always listen right? No matter what it is."
"Yeah I know." He finally turned around. He looked so sad. I wrapped my arms around him and just hugged him. I wish I could tell him how I truly felt about him. He'd feel better instantly, but I couldn't get it out.
"Alright I have to go. I'll see you later."
"See you later."
"You okay kid?" Ryan said walking in.
"Jacob hasn't been himself and I don't know what to do to help him. He won't talk about it and I don't want to push him so I leave it alone. But he's just not himself."
"He'll come back don't worry. We all have off periods. It'll be okay."
"I hope so."

The guys ran out and the game started. It was going really well, until the third inning. Hits after hits kept coming. Houser lost his grip a couple times and Jacob couldn't get the ball caught in time and it caused runners to advance and score, a lot.
It was six nothing Miami in the fourth. Jacob was leading off but struck out. Arcia was able to hit a home run and got us on the board, it was a start. Adrian was pulled mid inning with two runners on and zero outs. Just when we thought it couldn't get worse, the pitcher got a bunt but Jacob threw it way past Thames' head, scoring another run. And then a three run home run was hit. Someone tried stealing, and was successful.
It was now the bottom of the seventh and Miami led thirteen to three. Jacob had threw a couple more throws away and there were a bunch of passed balls. The only reason he was still in was because Manny had caught all thirteen innings the night before. Jacob was up and flew out to deep right field to end the inning. He looked beyond devastated. I just wanted to hold him.
We gained a little ground in the eighth and made the score thirteen and five. But in the ninth, Miami scored four. Making it seventeen and five. Everyone had their rally caps on in the ninth. It was loud. There were two outs and two runners on and Jacob was up. He got two quick outs but worked the count full.
"Come on babe." I said under my breath. His bat split and the ball flew. Miller Park was on their feet, it was going out, and then it wasn't. Caught at the wall. Game over. He practically ran through the dugout and threw his stuff down to get out of there. I wish I could've went with him, but I couldn't.
We sat in Counsells office and listened to how he would've done things different. I got Adrian on what he thought went wrong so quickly and a bunch of the other pitchers. The one person everyone wanted to interview, was Jacob. But he was nowhere to be found. The media asked a bunch of guys where he was but no one knew.
